You can keep them from PC's all the way to MH's , but with T5s and MH's you have the best chance to getting the best color out of the zoo's/palys... plus you can keep a host of different SPS and light loving coral as well...

if your getting T5's make sure they have INDIVIDUAL reflectors... not just 1 big reflector.. individual makes a big difference like Teks or other type ( individual reflector systems )

i agree with delsol650 on INDIVIDUAL reflectors and coral colors but would like to add that growth is another plus when it come to t5's and MH. its amazing the extra growth rate from the the right amount of watts.

that 8x54 is nice and i have seen it in action. having INDIVIDUAL reflectors you wouldnt need all 8 maybe 5 or 6 depanding on what lights you got.

The Nova Extreme does not have individual reflectors... Aquatinics and SunLight Supply products do though... But they're a bit more pricey...

Tek has ind. reflectors as well. I believe the 8 bulb fixture will hang off the edge on a 55. By around 2 inches. Not really a big deal though.

Its not that bad, 8x54 on my 100 standard , Its either 18" or 20"

i like mh. went from pc's to mh and like the coloring more. but i think if you want them to color up more then you would need actinic supplements. t5's are nice but i've noticed that theyre bright and some zoa's dont like it.

actually, depending on the zoa, some look better under t5's, some under pc's and some under mh. all depends. with mh you would need a chiller for sure.
