What I can tell you after meeting with Chris from Biomatix a couple times now, he is a perfectionist. Everything he has done with the company is as good as it gets. I pay attention to all the minor details. I think what also made me feel better is that he has great financial support behind this product. If you are ever in Houston, you have to meet Chris at his place and you will understand what I mean.

The product is definitely not beta anymore, but he is more focused on the commercial side than releasing to the consumer line right now. Since I am a customer of ADG and of AE (AGE), I was able to purchase the controller. These companies are the biggest in Houston when it comes to Aquarium maintenance and custom design work. Chris works a lot with them to remotely monitor their clients commercial aquariums. For example, he was showing me a new install of Veritas here in houston and how he was monitoring it remotely. Commercial clients arent readily available 24/7 and this is where Chris comes in to make sure they dont come to a disaster the next day. He can custom install it & custom program it to the clients needs.

Also, the price isnt the same as it was 2 yrs ago. I've also been waiting for this controller and I will take a run at it and see how well it performs. I will keep you guys updated.

Looks good Edward.

BTW, where was that fish shop in Germany on your blog? I'll be in Hamburg, Munich and Nurnburg in the next two weeks.

For those who asked about the iPhone working on the Biomatix. Looks like I can control it from the iPhone.

I purchased a Linksys Wireless Bridge and it has been a pain to get it to work. It's flaky! I had to stop using it last night because it wouldnt work most of the time. I think I am going to have to run wire through the walls instead. Unless someone knows of a better wireless bridge (converts ethernet to wireless)? The Biomatix Controller will be downstairs while the wireles router sits upstairs.

controller on your iphone interface looks sweet,

is your router upstairs a good one? i wonder if you can increase the range with a router upgrade instead of messing with the bridge?

First of all, that iPhone interface is wicked man!

Second, I am using the same wireless bridge with no problem. I have also used the wireless game adapter with excellent results. In fact it worked right out of the box.

If it's not "working" I would guess you have some kind of interference you need to overcome. Placement may be important.

That iPhone screen shot is incredible. Man do I love technology. :inlove: Enough to envy and drool, but not enough to spend the money myself.

Nice controller Edward. Does it have Tunze control or dimmable ballast control? These are two key reasons why I have my mind set on Profilux at the moment.

Andy

chrisrush, can you point me the pics you were looking at? I have several on there.

GSM, the biomatix isnt wireless so I would still need a wireless bridge. Im not to happy with the linksys one.

jnarowe, I had the wireless bridge plugged in 2 ft away from my router upstiars and I still had some stability issues. Half of the day today I have had the cable plugged into the main switch now without the wireless bridge and it hasnt given me any problems. Im going to return it and just hard wire the controller through the walls.

melev, thank you. my goal is to remotely make changes to my fish equipment. We will see how it works out.

Andy, no dimmable ballast, but it has a section for powerhead modes such as alternating or tidal. it's not specific to Tunze.

Well, hardwire is better of course, just a PITA, and I like the flexibility of wireless. When you return it, pick up the wireless game adapter WGA54G and see if it works better. It's about half the price and I found it was very good. My tank room is on another floor and there is a fair amount of interference, so maybe you will get lucky with the game adapter too.

Definitely worth it to hardwire it, is a pain through. You better do it now before it heats back up. We had to drop Eithernet cable in our old house in the middle of August, talk about a sauna in the attic. Is your run directly down through the floor or do you have to travel over a few rooms to get above the tank? They also have the Ethernet systems that plug into the wall and transmit over the home power lines almost like x-10. Not sure how great they work but in theory its a more solid way to transmit a signal.

Edward, I was just surfing through the "Japanese Bandeds!" What is the reason or point behind the flashing LED spotlights?

Hi,

since I am living in Munich I am not familiar with shops in Hamburg (because it's the opposite from our location) but if you have a bit of spare time it's definitely worth a trip to:
Mrutzek Meeresaquaristik, ParkStr. 34, 27721 - Platjenwerbe
I have been there and would recommend it to you.

here are some for Hamburg:
# MEGAZOO Hamburg, Stuhlrohrstr. 10, 21029 - Hamburg
# MW Aquaristik Brügmann, Bahnhofstr. 5, 21279 - Hollenstedt
# Aquaristik Schwarzenbek, Rudolf-Kinau-Str. 9, 21493 - Schwarzenbek
# Zierfische Gottschalk, Hauptstr. 50, 21629 - Neu Wulmstorf b. Hamburg

For Nurnberg I would recommend:
# Transmarine, Kleinreuther Weg 54, 90408 - Nürnberg
# Ahlona Aquarium GmbH, Siegelsdorfer Str. 42, 90431 - Nürnberg

and finaly for Munich:
# Aquarium Center Wildenauer, Lindwurmstr. 165, 80337 - München
# Domes, Lerchenauer Str. 230, 80935 - München
# Aquarium West, Weinberger Str. 57, 81241 - München
# Meeresaquaristik München, Akeleistr.2, 81547 - München
# Aquaristik Center Ost, Wasserburger Landstr. 260, 81827 - München
# Nautilus Aquaristik, Josef-Kistler-Straße 6, 82110 - Germering

Have a nice time in Germany and if you want to import German shops to Google-Earth you can use the file: http://www.korallenriff.de/geschaefte.kml

Seen your name allover RC, but now I've seen your build. Excellent use of negative space, as they say. It's great that you have the front-to-back freedom to leave some open substrate. One question though, what's it sound like? soft churtling water, nothing? Gushing?
just curious.
