Tank looks great! The side shot really shows all the open space. Do you have a pic of how the tank looks in the room its in? Just curious to see it placement.

Here you go.. took one yesterday.

The Live rocks have lightened up now after my green algae phase. Its looking a lot cleaner.

Doesn't your tank ever get dirty? ;)

Honestly, this tank is so much easier than my 100g which was Acrylic and an In Wall. I am so glad I made the switch to glass. For maintenance, all I do is use the magnet every 2-3 days on the glass and scrub the algae off the back every week. Oh, the days of cleaning the back wall with a plastic acrylic scraper and from the back running back to the front to see if its cleaned off well. Not fun! Other than that, less light equals less algae. MH's are only on for 4 hrs a day while actinics for 10.

I didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t realize that you are only running your halides for 4 hours a day. I must have missed that post while I was admiring all your photos. How are your corals adjusting to such a short photoperiod?

The main source in feeding these corals are from the spotlights. They come on at the same time as my actinics for now. In other words, 150w for 10 hrs and then the full penetration of 250w SE's (2 only) comes on for 4 hrs. The corals love it and are growing better than my previous tank. Im feeling it out and adjusting as time passes on how the corals react. Coloring is also better as I felt I was going to need somekind of lightening method like ZEOvit, but with the results I am getting now, it shows that less light equals less PO4 and I can richen the color at an angle of the coral by the spotlights.

Looks great Edward, I got all my rock in the tank now :D . How did you stack yours? Did you stack it back towards the back wall or towards the middle more? I put it maybe about 2/3rds of the way back but am wondering if I should move it towards the back wall.

Chad

That full room photo is exquisite! The tank looks absolutely huge. I really like the simple millwork on the cabinet, as it doesn't detract from the tank inhabitants. I'm still considering millwork options for my rimless' stand, and was thinking about a 3 or 4" shelf around the top perimeter for placing small items during maintenance. Do you think this would be useful?

Seriously Edward... you gotta be an artist! the tank looks great and the hole room is beautiful! Love it!!!

As for the bulb.. see if you can find a 20K bulb. I've seen some LED spotlights and actually mane3215 is getting some in from Japan. Others in japan are also using the tube lighting in 20k colors which probably uses less power but im not sure how effective they are. I really like it when they use the red colors though! Some people think it looks fake, but I really love it.

Gday mate,
I also really appreciate the use of supplemental spotlighting, including the red spectra. I think the red and blue supplementation is beautiful. I'm looking forward to some extra information regarding the spotlight pendants youre using, as I'm currently upgrading my DIY suspension pendant. I want to supplement my 9x54w T5 (mix of KZ, D&D and UV blubs) with spotlighting (CREE HO-LED and/or Iwaski MH 150w) with red, white and blue. :)

I recall you saying that you were aiming for the stag's growth now, and colour tweaking later, how are you planning this? Bulb colour alteration? 65k-20k? ZEOvit methodolgy??

I also recall we received our Majesticangel's at a similar time, mines now taking everything (frozen feeds, nori, pellets and flake), how is yours going?

Congratulations on the system again, certainly a stunner!! Any sump photos yet?? ;)

Cheers, Josh

I agree. The room looks simple and fantastic. I truly can't pull that off as I have way too much stuff that I refuse to part with.

That's an AGE tank, right? Could you PM me what it cost? I really like their work. I think I need a backup tank. :D

jnarowe, of course it can be that clean. :) Stop working on your tank and start cleaning instead. ;)

Chad, cant wait to see your new pics of the aquascape. Is all the RC out of your tank now? As for the stacking, I layed the rocks on each other like legos. If they didnt fit, then move it around. You have to get a visual of how you want it first. It wont be perfect the first 5 times. :) So be prepared to move around until you feel you got the money shot. The more you put it towards the back wall, the deeper of a look you will create. Leave some area for the sand. I did put the rocks on the back wall, but there is still a lot of room back there because of the irregular shapes. My chiller flows out through the back of the tank wall behind all those rocks and comes out the right side hitting against the right glass wall.

Richard, your tank is an inspiration also. I cant wait until you have it aquascaped. Your not far behind!

Josh, I am aiming the 65K light for growth on the SPS rock. 65K usually has better growth, but not great coloring. On the right side of the tank I have 20K and the greens and blues shine better. It doesnt penetrate as strong as the 65K though which was the goal because of the softy side. 65K=long term (growth), 20K=short term (instant color pop). As for the Majestic, he never ate so he did not make it. No sump pics either. thats another new project I havent even touched yet. :) :)

Marc, Thanks for the kind words. Yes, its an AGE tank - $3600. Get a rimless!

kigs, thank you.

Triton, thanks.. you are welcome to come by and lay in the room all you want. :) I need a better lens. I know the pic can come out better.

Dudester, it is very big! You dont get the true feeling until you put something next to it into perspective. Even the light fixture is wider than the norm. That's why I knew 300g was plenty for me. All I wanted in this dream tank was to create the ultimate open aquascape. Therefore I did with the 40" width. As for the stand.. its not real. I blacked it out because I still have not finished that part. The finished stand will look better than that in a black matte Formica finish by ADG. Check out the model below. As for the shelf, try hiding it by getting a slide out in your cabinet (like a keyboard slide out). Thats what I plan to do.

very nice. how much room is there to walk by near that wall corner? It is surprising to see you go from an inwall to in-room...I think I would be more inclined to go starfire but inwall mounted to view through the "end". It is a very nice remodel though. Did you do the tile yourself?

Very cool progression, Edward. I love where you are now, but I gotta admit, I didn't hate where you were then, either :) . Curious, what is the black material lining the floor inside the cabinet?
