Isn't that a lot more work?

looks good welcome to the money pit😂

I was telling my wife what I estimate we've paid in this hobby over the past near decade and she said "I don't want to know, we don't talk about that" 😂

lol, my wife has told me, “this is your last tank” so many times over the last 35 years it’s not funny.

I'm finally almost getting better about this... occasionally I keep "thinking" about a new tank and then somehow talk myself out of it, thankfully, lol. I'm still really curious about those cylindrical jellyfish setups, but I'm glad I simply have no space to set one up. So right now we are down to just the two tanks... 4g and 130g systems at home, then my wife has a small one at her office now too lol

😂😂 sounds like you have thre green light to buy more stuff within reason
we are doing a "staycation" this weekend, travelling a bit north for some spa that her boss gave her a gift certificate to and she said "I thought we were gonna have a fish date after on the way home" lol. We will be so far north that we will pass about 7-8 potential fish stores on our drive back. I can see another tang in my near future, maybe two if I play my cards right lol.

congratulations on your new fish😂
I found a local guy who can get me whole sale prices. $50 ea for a Tomini, Naso, and Scopas, but he has a $500 min order. I'm not looking to fill his minimum but if he gets me pricing in time before we splurge on the weekend I might try to get a couple and mix my order with a guy placing a larger order to hit the minimum... one of our baby clownfish disappeared when we added the huge wall of nems (did the nem eat her???) but my remaining clownfish, as lonely as he appears, has made a home in the biggest nem and really seems to like it so we're hoping to add 1 or 3 clownfish, a firefish, maybe a pearly jawfish. that would pretty much bring us back to where we were before the big tank crashed last Jan.

Well we had hoped (I had hoped) to add a couple tangs to the tank this weekend but instead we ended up with four new clowns. The two storms the guy gave us for 50% off so buy one, get one. He had had them for a couple months (petco) but wouldn't split them and nobody apparently nobody wanted to spend that much. They folks there recognize me whenever I come in and today I said man that's a great deal.... Hard for me to justify though, if they were 50% off instead of 35% I'd probably have to jump on it ....

She goes ok wait I'll text him. Sure enough they gave me the homie hookup, my wife is super happy. Added the black and the common as well to bring our total tank clown count to 5.

THe storms were already pro-nem so I put all four clowns into a mushroom box I had, transfered that to the tank so they could gently swim out directly into the nem field, which seems to make them all pretty happy.

Win for all then congratulations
so far so good! we originally had just 2 clowns in this new system and when I added a rock of 3 nems (which I believe is actually EIGHT!) the next day one of my two young clowns disappeared. I have no idea where she went, but my tank seems to do a good job of absolutely disappearing the body now if someone perishes. so then we had just this one young clown hosting on the nem field by himself.

when we added these 4, he and the large (I assume female) storm would face off with one another, mouth to mouth. The larger storm acted aggressive, but he/she would turn around and get right back at her. they chased each other a little bit the first few hours and now all 5 clowns seem to be very happy sharing the nems together.

This works out better cause the tangs I was considering were all very small and I didn't want to introduce a small baby scopas to my large existing tangs, I didn't think it would survive tbh.

not the best picture and I clearly need to do a little cleaning but I can finally grab a full tank shot without a bunch of glare on the glass. Its come a long ways since March, and I think we are happy with the rock work. my plan is to remove that nem in the middle and my wife wants to use the bare spots on the left side / rock for torches. otherwise everyone seems pretty happy.

only thing I can figure out is why my duncans and kenya trees that are thriving in my little 4g tank are not nearly as happy when I try to put them in the big tank, even though the big tank seems to be doing really well for everything else. zoas, frogspawn, hammers, obviously the nems and fish all seem do be fine, and the gsp I started on the back wall as doubled in size already.

a few updates:

This weekend my dogs agility class was cancelled because wind storms knocked out the power, so we took a side trip up to the fish store. He gave me a pretty fair price on a new torch ($40/head for 3 heads)

we picked up a little mushroom colony from him as well for $25. they are about 2" in diameter:

This started out as just the upper plate, and the lower plate has completely developed since starting the new tank. they're about 4" long by 2" wide:

This Pavona is a fun one for me because it was one of the first corals we had in the 10g tank 5+ years ago that has survived so many changes and the big redsea crash. I had taken the mother, cut off little 1" chunks of it, glued them to a dome shapped frag rock and over the past year it's encrusted itself fully around the dome and started to grow vertically so I feel accomplished with this one:

Frogspawn we picked up last spring has doubled in size. it's around 6-8" diameter now. I have no idea how many heads, lol

one of my wife's gorgs is doing much better than the other:

we had a pile of zoas in the 4g that were doing just fine but my wife wanted to move them to the big tank as an island to create a splash of color on the sandy bottom, they seem to be adjusting well:

This was a modest 2 head hammer that i picked up from a local last spring that is already 4 heads, each head opens up pretty large too. probably about 2.5 to 3" per head when fully opened:

blue hornet colony I picked up from the local gal who I get pods and phyto from

and lastly, my wall of uncertainty. the gsp I glued to the wall has douibled in size and I'm very happy with it.
the two different GSP's on the shelf were put there to adjust to the new tank and struggled the first few months but now are doing very well so I need to make a long term decision with them. same as the paly's. they're actually quite large and vibrant but over time I'll probably move those three somewhere else so I can use the shelf for something like like high end zoas etc.

Random picture I took last night of the 4g beside the M100 for a group text thread I had with my buddies, dad and brothers to brag that we still had power cause a big puget sound windstorm took out a lot of power and trees this weekend

I swung by petco last night on my way home, just to see... and they had 2 black perculas on sale for 75% off, so $6ea...

They also had greenbanded gobies for $14 and they gave me 2 for the price of one... not sure if I'll ever see them though, they were TINY when I got them and they went straight into the rocks. I should have put them in the 4g...
