It`s All Their Fault!

Sorry, but in Oklahoma you do not need a verb to "do" something to another. You can act simply through a precognitive process. This is known as "Fixin To Syndrome" Where the individual believes he acted even though he was only in the preparation stages of action. So, when the football game ends and the Sooners lose, they were "fixin to" Score when the time ran out. :)

Or the ref couldn`t see. ;)

Update time,
My lfs is holding another Pearlscale Butterfly for me. If it makes it till the 1`st I will bring it home. Was told that it was eating mysis and flake, always a good sign. May get some time to run by there today and see how it`s doing. I need a good aiptasia eater, I have quite a farm of them now. May take a rock up and see what happens.
Haven`t got a picture from him yet so I can`t post one at this time.

The nitrates are dropping abit with aggresive skimming, Water change is scheduled so that will help. Still haven`t got the holes drilled for the RDSB, :D maybe someday.

Things are looking up in the tank, I`ve noticed the glass remains algae free longer. I need to refresh my detrivore population again.
At this months club meeting I won a critter package from TBS!!!
Looking forward to the time when they can dive again. ;)
Plans are to add a few more scarlet reef crabs along with some astreas when funds allow.

Should have a new toy in any day now. My 7 yr old hydrometer finally came from together to apart the other day, so I ordered a refractometer. Guess it was time I entered the 21st century LOL.

:beachbum:

Sounds good! One note on the Pearlscale. I am starting to suspect mine of picking at some of the corals. I have yet to see it, but my zoos don't look so good and my candy cane doesn't open as much. Also, my Flame Scallop wasn't opening so I thought it was dead. I picked it up and it moved so I put it in the fuge. No it is fully open again. She definitely ate all my feather dusters, but I am OK with that. It's a beautiful fish, but I am not so sure it is reef safe.

At least one club member here has one in his reef. So far he hasn`t noticed any picking on his sps.
Might be the individual as in the case of dwarf angels. I don`t have anything much in my tank except for some zoo`s I tried to kill, and a few softies. I do have a crocea clam though.

:beachbum:

It's worth a shot. I just wanted to warn you that it may be a problem. By the way, mine took about 4 days to start eating anything other than feather dusters. No he eats Mysis like a champ!

WooHoo!!
My new refractometer came in today.
Gonna go play with it :D

Some of the members in our club have been discussing an order of Bergia Nudibranchs. Anyone have any comments one way or the other if I should add a few of these to my system instead of the Pearlscale?

:beachbum:

After further testing I would say skip the Pearlscale. I love the fish but I am pretty sure he is picking at my zoos and was after my Flame Scallop until I moved it to the fuge. I never actually caught him, but he is the prime suspect.

I know nothing about the Bergia, sorry.

Was just informed that clownfish don`t like the nudis. Seem to think they are attacking their anemone. A few club members said that their clowns never bothered them. So like always I guess it depends on the individual. Still think that I will try them 1st instead of adding another fish. If the nudis get harrased I will try to catch them and remove to safer territory.

According to my new refractometer my salinity is right on 1.026 :D
I love new toys

I finally got a maxi-jet 900 to use as the pump for my RDSB, borrowed a good friends hole saw set and cut the holes in the bucket, have the sand in it, just waiting to get some plumbing.
Got around to doing the monthy cleaning of the bulbs and reflectors, weekly water change that was 3 weeks late *I`m so bad*

I lowered the bulbs abit to around 6" above the water & turned the reflectors parallel to the tank, didn`t notice the tank running any hotter today than normal and it was brighter for sure, so I`ll keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn`t run hot. My fish don`t splash much but if I`m curious if that`s too close to the water.
I think that since the side fans blow along the length of the bulbs now I will be alright with the heat.

:beachbum:

I noticed this on the side of my clam tonight.
I know it`s a crappy pic but can anyone tell me what this is?
And if it`s bad.

It is fine. It is a vermetid, a worm that casts a web or net during times it sense food in the water. The food traps on it, and then the worm reels this in to get its meal.

Managed to get something accomplished today that I have put off for long enough!

I started with these parts.

And wound up with this.

I have an issue with it as it tends to gurgle, not getting enough air I suppose.

:beachbum:

Problem solved,
thanks to fellow C.O.M.A.S. member captbunzo`s suggestion, I moved the maxi-jet 900 that I used to power the RDSB to the sump.

It`s now been running approx 3 hrs with nary a gurgle :D

I checked the nitrates before turning on the RDSB. Tested 25 so that is going to be my base for seeing if the system helps.
Has been running around 50 with Salifert.

Took this pic yesterday & thought it was nice.

If it looks out of focus it`s because I didn`t resize and photobucket is shrinking it for RC.
