It sounds stupid, but it worked.

That's kinda neat! My clowns won't go anywhere near my new BTA, but my blue damsels hang around near it...I don't care either way if anyone hosts it, as it eats well, and seems healthy...but I'm half-tempted to tape a pic of a blue damsel in a nem at their tank just for kicks...lol...

have had the picture up for four days now and I noticed my ocellaris was getting stung when getting close to my bta...at least shes trying to get near the anemone now

I'm trying to do the same thing. Could you give me more specifics, picture size etc. Does the pic have to be an amenome of the same sp. As the one you want the clowns to use?

I did the same thing with my sabae anemone and percula clown pair. It took two days before they really hosted it. however, be careful, because if the anemone is unhealthy, its just as likely the clowns will hurt it as help it. I think my clowns hosting it was a big part of why the sabae declined in health so quickly (and eventually died).

I put the pictures in both side of my aquarium, now my clowns looks very scared, I have two ocellaris and two black ocellaris.

I'll wait for two or three days, and remove the pictures, I'm afraid they will get sick.

I let you know what happen.

"I just came across this thread.....is this for real?
Can Clowns learn behavior from a picture??"

No I don't think its for real... I don't believe they can. Seeking a host is a instinct not learned behavior. The op had new clowns and so did the other person that said it worked. Its quite normal for clowns not be be hosted for quite a while when they are newly added. My black pair weren't hosted for over a year if I remember correctly. Sometimes its quick sometimes its not. Some clowns are just more "hosty" than others :)

The only reason i think it might work is that i've always seen clowns do the monkey see monkey do thing in the tank. Its never both for me that just dove in its always been on and then the other said hey it must be nice in there and joins.

Hey its work a shot haha.

i found video from a laptop puhsed up against the screen worked, took about 10 mins just left it on repeat. You can see the reaction change from the clowns behaviour

I used the same technique about 2 years ago when I introduced my Ocellaris clowns to a new RBTA. I think the clowns moved near the nem within the first day, but then took several days of testing and acclimating before bathing in the tentacles for extended periods of time. Now the rarely leave except to eat as described in an earlier post.

I only gave it around 24 hours, but it didn't work for me. The clowns definitely noticed the picture, but they didn't seem to get the message.

I'm sure it might work just because of the clown seeing a much larger one (the picture) and trying to protect itself. That said, it didn't work for me when I tried it. Mine dove in sometime during a 3 day lights out.
