Well, I picked this tank up almost 2 years ago just out side of NYC. Its been in my aunts basement waiting for me to finish the addition to the house. The house still isn't finished but its on its way and the tank is now in place for the wall to be built around it. Here are a few pic's to get this started. Us unloading it from the truck.

Stand isn't much to look at and the tank is covered in sand and salt crust but the stand will be built into the wall so I don't care what it looks like.

Now I need to figure some things out. This tank doesn't have overflows like my other tank so I'm not 100% sure how I should go about it. I do know that I'm going to need 4 new 1.5" bulk heads. Anyway here is a pic of one of the overflows and what I would assume is 1 of the returns. The 4 1.5" holes that are drilled in the bottom of the tank are spaced out. 1 in each corner and the other 2 are in the back of the tank about 1/3 of the way to the left and right of the center of the tank.

Ok guys, I've been looking at bulk heads online all morning. The holes are 1.5" Any suggestions on bulk heads and where to get them? Local maybe? How about those overflows? Are they any good or should I try and figure something else out?

Yes the bottom of the tank is drilled but not in your normal locations as you can see in these pic's. I found some bulk heads local so I have installed them and screwed in the stand pipes. Here is what it looks like. Nothing has been sealed or glued so all can still change if need be. Like the salt crust?

Yeah, what about just putting an overflow box and using those for closed loop applications on the bottom?

After brain storming with several others I think I am going to build some glass overflows for the corners. shouldn't be hard to do.

I made a run to lowes and got some caps for the bulk heads and plugged them off, then I filled it with FW to make sure there were no leaks in the tank and to give the crust a chance to soften up. All filled up and a couple power heads running. No leaks!!!

Its going to be a mixed reef with mostly LPS & Zoa's, maybe a few SPS. I already have a 75g that I want to use as a fuge so I would like to find a 50-100g stock tank for a sump. I also have a 33L and a custom 48x22x12 for frag tanks. I also have the skimmer that came with the tank and I want to mod it but will most likely still have to upgrade to something better.

That is going to be a nice setup.

I would go with the 100g rubbermaid stock tank. For the price you cant beat it. I think I paid like $80 at Tractor Supply. Just change the stock tank bulkhead out with a Hayward so it doesnt leak. I hear the rubbermaid bulkheads all leak eventually and if so all bets are off!

Cant wait to see more pics.

If you need any help let me know.

Between work, kid, tank, bowhunting, reefcentral and sleep I dont have much time but I can always find time to help a local reefer.

Thanks for the offer. This project may stumble yet again as if 2 years isn't long enough. The transmission on the car maybe going out so extra money may go for that...grr! Its always something. Guess we'll see what happens.

Sounds like a plan! I guess it time to switch gears and put the boat and bait casters away and pull out the waders and fly rod.
