That man in the picture is the infamous George from GEO's reef. He builds great stuff! Including grill tables.
Anyway what thickness of foam should I out under this tank?

Corey

Ok. That will work.
I'm also contemplating ATO's. which ones are you guys using and do you like it and if so why or why not?

I have used the Tunze and loved it. I do find the pumps to wear pretty quick, especially if you let them run dry at any point.

I now use simple float valves and my Apex controller to run my ATO. I like having control and being able to watching it function throughout the day.

There is a good selection on the market now to choose from.

I have the one from avast. It's super accurate but their pump is super loud!!! It was in my basement and I could hear it on the 2nd floor of my house.

After almost 10 years I am finally using an ATO. I have only one demand, it absolutely cannot fail in the on position and flood my tank with water. The only way I know of to accomplish this is with a peristaltic pump running 24/7 that puts in what I evap in 24 hours. Worst case scenario is it stops pumping, which is ok and it cannot pump more than what it is set for.

Over the years there have been too may tanks lost to ATO's so I decided to go the only way that doesn't have the potential to pump all of the freshwater into the sump, the continuous duty peristaltic pump is the only way that I have never seen fail. It also does double duty as I am running kalk in my ATO, it simply works as expected.

Jack what pump do you use? How do you have it set up
Steve, I too am looking at avast one I've heard great things about it but I hear a lot of good things on the Tunze too.

I use an IKS Vario pulling from a 7 gallon container of kalk dripping into the sump, it works pretty well but there are many different peristaltic pumps out there.

Mark I really like them. I had 3 on my old 220 and added a 4th for this tank. I added so e different diodes to them to change my spectrum. I'm super excited to see how they turn out

When I ordered mine I got them on sale but they only came w 24 white and 24 blue. So I changed out some of each with green, red, uv, and cooler whites.
