It's like REAL beach sand, LOL

COMAS Rocks!
I have had my 20g filled with lot's of sand, about 70lbs worth or so, some live sand some pavestone crushed limestone stuff, but anyways, I was scooping a bunch out and moving it over to the 55g christmas gift I'm working on, I got my first cup out, walked into the other room and as i'm emptying it I get sand all over myself, it was like an instant flashback to playing on the beach. I guess I never really thought about it before but it was so cool having that little feeling. Like when you walk into the fishroom and get that "waft" of the ocean under your nose for a second. Just a cool little ditsy revalation i had, wanted to share.

:D

(since the tank isn't full of water yet, I'm making a sandcastle tonight! Wheres my pail and shovel?)

You know. I understand what you are talking about, but then again I'm completely lost. I love to toy in the sand, smell my aquarium, pop bubbles, etc, etc. But, I can't relate with you since I've never been to the ocean. Our perceptions of what the ocean might smell like could vary drastically ;) :D

Yeah, it does make you think of the beach... but the only beach I have been to isn't very clean or clear (Galveston, TX)!! lol

I remeber when i took diwn my old 90 and i was removing the sand after i took out all the water. It was like low tide in my room for a week. I couldn't get rid of the smell and it was in July and we don't have central air.

Bignick, this is a little off topic, but I gotta see some pics of your 210 shark tank! ya got any? A shark tank is my "ultimate" goal in this hobby.

I just left the beach and will be back on the Gulf side in a couple of days. I am hanging out in Savannah at the moment. I will be in Miami next weekend. I love the beach, but had a bad experience with Red Tide last year in Panama City. I do not think I have smelled anything worse in nature...

My first car was a 50 model Ford, drove it for 2 yrs. Some thirty years later I opened the door on a 50 Ford and there it was, the odor that I hadn't smelled for 30 yrs. I think it was the mohair upholstery that they used.

I will help take this thread off course. I lived in the San Diego area, within blocks from the beach for almost 20 years. There is a clear smell that I love. What was really interesting and beautiful was when they had some sort of bloom that was bio luminescent (Glowed in the dark) upon movement in the water. At night from the surface, the waves would glow a bright green. More fun was to see it from under the water, either in SCUBA gear or even just a bathing suit. When you move your hand in front of your face and your hand and the water would glow green.

I really miss those beaches.

So, if you could describe the smell, what does it smell like? Is it like a after a fresh rain? I would guess that as being a "clean water" smell.
