It's my honor to introduce to you my CB Clarion Angel :)

Hey everyone,

Just a little update. My CB Clarion is still doing well and eating voraciously. He's still in his holding tank waiting for his other new tankmates to get out of QT. I'd like to add them all together into the DT so that one won't establish dominance too early.

Any, I had the awesome opportunity today to get a partner for my CB Clarion! I picked up a tiny approximately 1" Clarion today. It's so tiny! I know I said I swore off baby angels after my previous baby Conspic passed away, but I couldn't resist myself. Anyway, here's are couple of pics while it was acclimating today:

Videos to come :)

OK, here's a video of it swimming around in my refugium right after being acclimated:

And here's a short video of it eating. It took down a few good pieces of mysis so far. Thats's a 1" PVC in the shot:

they are tough but not as aggressive as queens, passers, or emps...

Such a beautiful and coveted fish and size. Congratulations, I'm glad she's eating for you all ready. I think we were all a little crushed when you lost the conspic, I'm glad you got this Clarion. It is so fun to watch these little guys grow up here on RC.

Are the Clarions reef safe. Just wondering since they were discussed under reef fishes.

Beautiful fish, enjoy mate.

There are certain sacrifices you make for having an angel in a reef. Like instead of saying REEFSAFE you say, my Clarion is Coral safe as long as I dont keep lobos, scollys and chalice. My Scribbled is clamsafe until she turns 4. lol etc. Lot of people have success with angels and every type of coral, but most the time an angel will like a certain delicacy.

wow amazing ! congrats !

the reef war video did not present the actual beauty of your system though. you gotta make one yourself with good white balance and ...

Wow Wayne! What is it like? - skittish, curious, shy? Is it pecking off the rocks or eating out of the water column?

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm really excited about this little one.

Here's another video of it so you can get a better perspective of how small it is. I can't get over its size. The tank it's in is a standard 30 gallon 36" long.

Hey Matt, yeah, I'm totally bummed about my Conspic still. Too bad I don't still have it. A baby Conspic and Clarion together in the same tank would have looked awesome.

I wouldn't say they necessarily are per se, but that's why I bought a captive bred one and a baby. Since the clarion was captive bred and never in the wild, I'm hoping that it never learned to eat corals or clams. The same with a baby - I'm hoping it hasn't had a chance to pick up any bad habits yet. My plan is to keep them well fed in my display tank and hopefully they won't get a taste for anything they're not supposed to.

Yeah, we all know it's tough to capture a reef tank's true color albeit photos or video. I think Thomas did a pretty good job just starting out. Hopefully he becomes really successful and he'll get better equipment or actually a film crew!

It's pretty skittish, but I don't think abnormally so for a new fish. It started to peck and graze off the rocks right away when I put it in the refugium. It learned to eat from the water column as you can see pretty quickly though. It really has take a liking to the Hikari Mysis. It doesn't really try to eat the other food that I've introduced like Prime Reef yet.

Awesome fish Wayne, you are really building an amazing collection of Angels.

I wish you the best of luck with her when you do the introduction to the CB clarion.
