Wow, nice girlfriend!! There is a learning curve with dslr but I have no doubt you will get the hang of it quickly. Enjoy it.

Nice Pedro. when you get it dialed in teach me. I have an Olympus E510 and am clueless. The book is 1" thick and full of terms I dont understand. I have thought about taking a photo class.

Thanks, I just have to keep practicing and get a tripod, holding the camera steady is quite tricky.

Great, more bad news for my future children's college fund.

lol

Practice, practice, tweak and practice some more, lol, this is what I'm doing.

Tripod definitely helps. When shooting in the tank try to keep the lens perpendicular to the glass. Even a small angle starts to cause distortion/blurriness. slower shutter speeds get more depth of field keeping more of your subject in focus. You can always rest your arm against the tank or on something stable to help with the shakes but I have to use a tripod for close ups cause even then my hands are still too shaky. If you are using a tripod use a remote shutter release if you have one, or set the cameras self timer to like 5 seconds to give it time to stop shaking from you pushing the button. The nikon software that comes with your camera will allow you to fix a lot of issues if you set the camera to shoot in raw mode. Hope this saves you some time on the curve lol.

congrats!! whens the wedding?

nice camera too. what lens you using? I was looking at that exact camera in the store this weekend.

Nice Pedro. If you don't have a macro or want to drop $400+ on one, check this out. You'll have to go with manual focus and tripod, but they get you nice and close for $12.

Thanks! Don't know the date yet but it's in the works. I picked up a used 60mm macro 1:2.8 Af D from craigslist for $180, auto doesn't work because it's not the same format as my camera but manual works like a champ. Works great for me as I would like to get the nikon 105mm just don't have the funds to drop $800+ yet lol
