It's time to play "Let's identify that algae from a bunch of bad pictures"

So about two months ago I wound up with ich in my 220G display tank and pulled all my fish out to treat them and leave the tank fallow for 72 days. During that time some sort of algae has taken over the glass on one side of the tank. I've been allowing it to grow there because it's growing on the glass and not the rocks or corals and without my tangs and other fish in the tank I have been somewhat concerned about algae taking over everything. So I figure this is a good compromise... the algae can continue to grow on the glass, where it will be easy to remove in a week or two when I'm ready to put the fish back in.

However, this algae is also one that I've been struggling with in my refugium for a while now. It keeps out competing any cheato I put in the fuge... typically by growing over the cheato and starving it for light. So I'd like to identify it and see what can be done to get rid of it.

So, here are the bad pictures I promised...

This shows the algae as it's taken over one side of my glass.

This is a picture from the other side of the tank. It's a very fine fuzzy algae... it extends a good 5 or 6 inches off of the glass in a number of places just kind of waving around in the current.

It's definitely not GHA... it's more of a brownish color (the color in the pictures is reasonably accurate) and it also has a tree like structure with thicker 'trunks' that branch off more and more to get to the fine ends.

It has some parts like this where it has a long branch that's a good 6 or 8 inches long that just waves about in the current.

So, after all my bad pictures, any idea what I'm looking at and what I might do to help wipe it out?

Like I said, the good news is that the algae is really just on my glass and overflow covers right now, so it's going to be very easy to manually remove when I'm ready to add the fish back in, but I still have a lot in my fuge as well that I would like to get rid of entirely.

Thanks much:)

Thanks for the thoughts guys. At one point I was thinking it might be a form of cyano, but I'm not sure if bacteria can really have as much structure as I'm seeing here.

It does seem to respond to light, so I'm not seeing it clog pipes and pumps in dark areas

Its kinda funny but it looks like the mold you would find on Bacon if it stays in the fridge to long..... Also the close up view looks a lot like a StagHorn algae to me i had it at one point but it disappeared pretty quickly from my little 20G nano
