Janss pipes

I ordered a trio from divers den last week. They are doing well, eating frozen brine and ova but they only come out at night. They are in an sps tank with a pair of ora mandarins and a dragonface pipe. I have read that janss like overhangs and caves but it would be nice to see them other than under the moon lamps. Do they take a while to get used to a tank or are they pretty reclusive? Either way it is nice to have some eat frozen right away, hats off to Divers Den.

I've kept a pair of Janss' in a LPS/softy reef for a few years, and they do indeed become more bold, however, they will never be an "out and about" fish. One cool thing mine did was set up a cleaning station and when they were "open for b'ness", they would come out and make a weird vertical "see-saw" motion to advertise, and the other fish would line up for a grooming.

Another interesting thing (I've also seen this in gulf pipes) is they would pluck the eggs off of berried female peppermint shrimp and eat them with no harm coming to the shrimp.

I always kinda looked at them as "guest stars" that would pop out and swim awhile when they felt like it or when there was food they liked.
