JapanReef - 450 gallon In-Wall system

I need something that I can buy online and ship over here....

Anyone sells Zeovit products in Japan should carry em??

Yea, but it's a pain. Ordering from the US is less hassle, just more expensive.

Right, bought some chicken wire type stuff today. It has a white plastic coat, it's pretty thin. Going to use it to make covers for the 3 openings in the tank. Lost too many fish to jumping, the last straw being the male Clarki. I was thinking about whipping up a simple wooden frame. Any issue having that under the halides?

Maybe a picture of the mash cover will help but any plastic netting should works fine. Try to used those aluminum window frame to make the frame for the top as it's lighter and looks way cooler !!

Aluminum window frame - too hard. :p

Will take pics of the netting tomorrow. Just bought some wood and will knock up the frames tomorrow.

So I got the charger for the camera sorted. Tank is not much to look at but after I redo the rockwork it will look better even without all the LPS. You can see the Frogspawn in the middle thriving and the Hammer on the right which just keeps on growing and the huge Squamosa

The LTA is becoming a problem. As you can see it covers half the tank. :p

My new LR has been in the covered plastic containers for a week in the spare room. Today I changed out the water and scrubbed the rocks down. I was very careful to keep the door closed but I was in and out alot with buckets. Damn, it stinks. The tank room stinks too where I emptied the dirty water. I just put a bottle of bleach down the sink hoping that will solve that problem. Tomorrow will be a day of open doors and windows for sure.

Laurence.

Wow, that LTA is one of the biggest I have seen!

Ever thought about fragging it?

Tank looks good and the LPS look great too.

Pleased to see you back in the game.

When I get 5 mins, I will fill you in on the 'joys' of establishing a marine tank in New Delhi! Even a nano has taken nearly a year of hard work and research, still, back to Tokyo next August for 4 years and hope to get the chance to meet if you are ever in town.

Keep up the good work.

Matt

Hey Matt, good to see you are still around and awesome to hear that you are coming back over here. I have a bunch of guys that work for me that base out of Cochin in Kerala - it is so beautiful. But New Delhi, ugh, that would do my nut in.

Cheers acronuts. :)

LR smell in the house seems to have disappated a bit this morning. Still a hint of it in the tank room but the mad extractor fan in there makes sure it doesn't escape.

Holy huge anemone batman.. in fact holy huge everything ;)

Looking good man, hoping my own corals grow out like yours!

That nem IS HUGE!!!!
It dwarfs your 340!!!!
So is the clam!
The Blue Line Angel is a real show stopper too!
Very nice!

Well, the coral that survived definitely did well. The Hammer was the size of the one on the far right when I got it. It's in 5 separate pieces now - two of which are quite large. When I redo the rock I'll disperse them throughout the tank. The clam will go on the sand. Hard to know what to do with the anenome because it really is too big. I have some splits of it in the sump so could put a smaller one in or I might get a BTA instead.

Interesting that you have had it split Laurence, it is clearly loving your tank. Have you posted about the splits anywhere else? I'd love to see some pics.

Now a field of RBTA clones would look good in that tank if you go down the BTA route!

Matt

SuperR - hasn't eaten a fish yet and not really heard of LTAs eating fish. However it was defalted yesterday and is only half inflated today. Pretty sure all the fish are accounted for though.

xsquyz - the Blueline is not a juvi. I've had him now almost 3 years. Great fish, great personality. Found in the waters off Japan but you don't see them in shops much. Not sure why that is as mine has done very well.

Matt - The LTA split about 5 times in 2007 when I wasn't posting much. Don''t think it's split in 12-18 months. It just keeps on growing and growing. Do you still check out Japanese online vendors? Vessel has an Interruptus in for 42,000 yen:

One day I'll get one.

Meanwhile here are som crap pics of my Niger in QT:

So getting 2 6125s for my tank next month. Tank is 30" high with SSB. Best positioning is middle or about one third (10") down?
