JB Weld -WaterWeld issues

For the past several years I have been using JB Welds WaterWeld epoxy putty to attach coral. The last 2 times that I have purchased this, the outer layer on 2 tubes was crusty and was difficult to mix as it was full of pieces. Yesterday purchased another 3 tubes,2 are rock solid,I mixed up some from the third tube that felt normal and tried to attach quite a large colony, for some reason I could not get it to attach. The way I do it is a blob of Super glue gel a blob of putty and then some glue on the putty, colony just would not stick. Have any of you that use this stuff noticed any change when using it, almost seems like they have changed the formula.
Anyone got a better product that you can recommend.

I use the AM reef welder and it's much better than the epoxy. You just need some hot water, put some pellets in there and then it'll turn transparent and you can mush them all together to make the size you want. I use a similar sandwich method too with Super glue and reef welder. Just be careful not to burn your fingers in the hot water when pulling it out. I usually use a toothpick or something to pull it out of the water. When out of the water you probably have about a minute before it'll start to harden (maybe longer). I'll never go back to 2 part epoxy

Mike do you need to use superglue as well. Have you tried it without glue?

I had the same issue with 4 tubes batch 1031 the batch number is on one end of the tube. I took them all back to HD for a refund. Now i squeeze the tube through the packaging before i buy it.

I've had the same issue with Home Depot batches. Returned two alresdy. It's been a hit or miss. Works good though with crazy glue Gel good luck.

Ivan, I've gotten some bad tubes myself at Home Depot, although not as bad as you describe. I order three tubes online a few weeks ago and what I got was much better. I can't seem to find the vendor I ordered it from however, I keep hunting and let you know when I find out.

Thanks Mike. I found a couple sample packets of the pellets that I had, stuff really works much better than epoxy and hardens much quicker I think I have been converted.
