JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

Hey DFL18, well done with getting the 28G. I have one currently being setup. Waiting for my Liverock though. Please post a link when you start your thread. I will tag along. Do you know anyone who's got the 28G JBJ running long term? Most just break it down after a year or so. Really wanting to see photos of this tank thats been run long term.

Several people have had it going for a while. It's only been out for about 3 years. Mine is 2 years old.
I'm in almost 2yrs as well

Excellent! Can you both please post links to your build threads, hopefully you both have upto date pictures. Looking forward to seeing you FTS. Thanks in advance.

Breeze/SlvrSurfRidr: thank anyway, but please do post FTS's of your tanks. I do very much want to see what can be achieved long term with these tanks. Yes, the been out only 3 years...but, with nano tanks most people seem to upgrade within a year...I am planning to keep my tank 3-4 years a which point I would like to go a little bigger and better equipment etc, so seeing long term tanks would inspire me in a way and be sort of something to aspire too. So thanks in advance for posting your current FTS.

BTW does anyone know how much air is being pushed by the stock skimmer's air pump? Looked all over but cannot find specs on the supplied stock air pump. I was thinking of geting something a bit more powerful, butas I dont know how much is being pushed by the current one I cannot make a start on looking for a higher output replacement!

I've had my Sapphire skimmer running for a couple of weeks now and it is running great. Such a huge improvement over stock.
Also got a coral beauty angel, its doing really well, hasnt bothered any corals. Wanted a flame but didn't want to pay what they wanted, and the coral beauty was half the price, and I'm very happy with it.

Wont the coral beauty outgrow the tank or am i wrong? Im considering a dwarf angel for mine, but not sure which one to pick. I know some of them get big.

Making Waves...

I currently have a JBJ Nanon tank (28g) and looking for a 'better wave'. I've already got the Profilux Controller and understand that it can control the Tunze Wave Box as well as the Tunze Stream...

Im curious which is better, or are they both overkill for a nano?

has anyone removed the stock pumps and changed them for the maxijets ? I am thinking of them as the accellas dont cut it for me

Breeze: thank you. Nice to see an old NC28 :D Your tank has come a long way. I really like the open structure of your liverock. Very clever thinking.

DRD: I read on another forum of a few poeple changing out the Accella and replacing it with MJ1200's. They said it is a very tight fit. One thing though; for an extra 29GPH I dont think its worth it. I'd rather have a Korralia nano. But yo might not want a pump in the display.

I've replaced the stock pumps with two Maxi1200's and Ive got 4 nano's in the display.

Yes the 1200's are tight, but just a hair - no real forcing required.

WOW - 4 nanos?! Still have room for rocks and fish

Yeah still have room..

Of course... Im still trying to find the magic formula to keep things like Acropora alive - tanks params are stable, but thats only been 2 months.

You should have plenty of flow - make sure you have ample light and keep them a little higher in the tank, you should be good to go!
