Anyone got a base reading on MG when mixing your own water? Mine seems to be running low (1020-ish), but when I dose I'm getting some unforeseen results .... just making sure I'm not alone
MrIcky, what kind of upgrade you did to the cover.
If you have the HQI, you'll want/need an ATO. The JBJ version is pretty good, if you can afford the Tunze - do it right the first timeI am thinking about getting a JBJ ATO; is it worth of getting it?
I would agree with the post above, you'll want an ATO with the HQI and actually I have one even with the LED lighting. It allows you to go out of town for a few days or more without having to worry about your SG shifting or your pumps running dry. Just good insurance and one of several things you can do to make reefkeeping easier/more automated.
I personally advocate for a DIY ATO if you happen to have some DIY skills; costs less and can be customized to your taste/needs.
Western reefer! Nice rockwall! Would be thrilled to have something like that in mine! Do you have a diy thread on how to make one?
2 hydor flo rotating returns
2 MJ 1200's
they work fine and don't spray. I'm not using them at this time, but I've used them on my old NC12 (which is even closer to the surface). They can get clogged so you have to clean the hydor-flo's every couple of months (which is easy).
Thanks Scott. I have that rock but am not committed to using it all. Thanks for the heads up.
I was given the 12g NC by a friend in my reef club (dvrc) and the lid was gutted. I am currently using PC's and was looking for good lights for this hood. During that time I was already itching to upgrade so I wanted a light that would light the 12g (wayyy overkill) and also fit the 28g when I got it. (I had holes drilled to fit both lids). So this kit was a good option.
