JBNY's 270 Ver2.0

You can use Triton if you want, no issues with it at all. But each Triton bottle is around $35 and with the amount I would dose each bottle would last around 2 months. Buying it dry and mixing my own solution cost $43 total and will last me more than 5 years.

I started with the dosage based on what Triton recommended and have increased the amounts based of subsequent tests. I just sent out for another test so I will see if the amounts I am now dosing need to be adjusted again.

Oh I forgot... I am dosing 2 other elements every 2 weeks.

Strontium: 33mg of Strontium Chloride (Seachem)
Vanadium: 0.6ml Triton Vanadium

Hi, I have sent you a PM can you check it, please? thanks

just watched your video, very nice.

I have a question on what are all the little chromis/damsels you have? Have you had them for a long time, if so how do you keep them from dying off/killing eachother?

How often are you feeding your tank and how much? I assume a lot with your nutrient levels but obviously have great colors and growth!

Get tank Joe. I've been following your tank builds for probably a decade now. Never fail to impress.

My tank hit the skids after 6 years and I'm at a point either I completely break it down and start over or hang it up. Been doing this for the last 17 years. This forum has been been great. A couple of questions. I think (from another forum) you are/were using an ultra reef skimmer: how do you like it? Would you choose another? What kind a sand and rock are you using?

Keep up the fantastic work. And thanks

I am still using the ultra reef skimmer. I like it a lot, it's very easy to adjust and clean, and it seems to skim just as well as my monster sized Beckett I used to use. If I had to do it again, I would buy the same skimmer.

My rock is marco dry rock, my sand is some generic home depot play sand.

The chromis are blue/green chromis. I have had them for about a year. they all get along pretty well, I am not doing anything special. Mine is a pretty non aggressive tank so maybe that has something to do with it. Also there are a lot of schooling fish with all the anthias in there, maybe that helps as well. I'm not really a fish expert.

I feed the tank twice a day, spectrum pellets (about 6 good pinches of pellets) in the morning, and 6 cubes of hikari Myisis shrimp in the morning and in the evening. So 12 cubes a day.

I have been purposefully adding more fish and feeding more over the years so as not to have to dose so much nitrates into the tank.

Thanks for the information Joe. I'll go ahead and try the skimmer. Any interest in mitratus butterflyfish? Need to find him a home while I'm rebuilding

thanks for the reply. I am thinking about adding around 6-7 more chromis and a blue throat trigger so I can have my nutrient register, having a hard time.

I really wanted an achilles but think that may be impossible with my powder blue tang.

Thanks for the fish, but I think my tank is full for the moment.

Yeah I'd get the skimmer I think you will really like it.

 I just started adding more and more fish, I was up to 65 when I finally had enough to keep nutrients at a decent level.

Update on the tank.

Just stunning!! Your p. tuka are just gorgeous!! I wish I had the confidence to give them a whirl!

That is totally crazy, Joe.
Awesome!!
I think that granulosa down at the bottom is looking better.
I can NOT, for the life of me, keep granulosa.
Stunning colonies!!

Nice video! Tank is looking great, love the fish selection. Once again your growth rates on your corals is to be envied, well done all around.

It's so impressive how fast your tank has turned into a mature and colorful reef. Loved the video!

Holy Jesus! I followed this tank from when it was bare rocks and vendor frags. Ive been off these forums for several months and come back to this! Holy Jesus! Looks fantastic. My tank has been up twice as long and my corals are half as big which is still pretty big. Looks like I have to go back and find out when you started adding the secret sauce! Congratulations man truly inspiring!
