JCole's box of rocks

Good he hear. This should take care of the issue. I can't wait for you to start adding corals. Some tabling Acros would look awesome in that tank.

Me too! Yes sir! I designed the scape tiered for that exact reason. Stags, torts, etc up top and mostly tables and efflos on the plates. I think that would look cool with the space for the fish to swim the plating corals

Bryopsis is gone and the ugly phase is starting. Macros are in and I am having to dose ammonia and nitrate to keep up with the demand. Clean up crew and pods come this week. CaRx is installed and running as Kalk alone cannot keep up.

In a couple of weeks I am going to move the live rock to the sump and most of the macros to a fuge. At that time I will start to put some corals and fish in. Slow and steady.

I don't want to jinx myself but the system seems to be doing very well. Coralline algae is starting to take hold, which is very quick to me. The Macros were doing very well so I decided to throw in a couple of LPS. Those were doing well so I decided to throw in some Acros. Those are doing good as well. Still retaining color and PE. I just received 10 gorgonians in yesterday and the tank is starting to look good. My plan is to relocate 90% of the macroalage to the back side of the tank. I won't be able to see it from the front but in the back I will set up a planted/fuge zone.

When opening the packs of gorgs, I found a nice little surprise. A basket starfish. I have never had one and understand they are difficult to keep but man, it is cool!

Glad to hear things are going well...but, we need more pics.

Awesome on the basket star. I haven't seen one of those in the hobby in a long time. Where did you buy the gorgs from? Was the basket star in the bag with one of the gorgs or did the supplier throw it in as a freebie?

Will do. I am still dipping and moving over the acros. I am trying to move a couple each day. Hopefully, I will have all of them moved over and mounted by this weekend. I still have to remove the macros and live rock to the back. I will get some pictures this weekend. I think it is starting to look good, though.

I picked the gorgs up from Russ over at Live-Plants.com. Same place I picked up the macros. These are the biggest and healthiest looking gorgs I have ever had. His macro is large and healthy also. I would not hesitate ordering from him again. I plan on adding some sponges soon and I will get those from him as well. The basket star was attached to one of the gorgonians. I am sure he knew it was there and put it in as a freebie.

Ah, Gulf Coast Ecosystems, I always forget their url is live-plants.com and I had to look it up :ROFLMAO: I've never ordered from them but, have always wanted to. I tend to have spare money to spend on my tank(s) in the winter so, when I have money, Russ, KP and Reeftopia are short on livestock due to it being winter.

I am looking forward to ordering some winter species like Codium. Unfortunately, Helen put a dent in their availability. Hopefully, they can get some more in soon.

I've ordered macros from him before. Real nice stuff. How tall/big are the gorgs?

Thats an awesome surprise/freebie and I agree their gorgs are huge.

Though I’m sure you’ve done some research, this may be helpful: Basket starfish: care, food, and facts - Reef Keeping World

Looks like they’ll eat most anything and they get fussy if they can’t extend their arms properly.

Thanks for the link. Honestly, I did not know they get that big! That video of one eating is HUGE!!!

I put it in the tank last night and it went right to a rock and remained there. It seems to be happy. I do broadcast feed small particulate foods and yeast a couple of times a week so hopefully it remains happy.

I ordered 4 different types. Spiny Gorgonian (Muricea laxa), Tan Candelabra (Eunicea), Tan Plume Gorgonian (Pseudopterogorgia bipinnata), and Grooved-Bladed Gorgonian (Pterogorgia guadalupensisis). The Spiny Gorgonian was the smallest but still nice around 4-5"(He does list this on the site as well). The rest are easily 8-12 inches. I will try and grab some pictures tonight. The Tan Candelabra is my favorite and a really unbelievable size when looking at the price and what you find in stores.
