Jcr's Rimless

Yeah he's a pug that we named Puggsly LOL. This was my wife's x-mas present as well. I regret buying her a pug because they are so hyper and always have to be under your feet. I shouldnt have given in over her whinning! But what can I say, she taught me well cause I have a new tank!

lol i know what you mean, we have some friends who have one and that pug goes nuts when ppl visit their house.

however they are cute and breathe funny.

Thanks for the compliments.
Still not set up yet : ( I was so stoked in getting the tank and had every intention of setting it up quickly but I've just been swamped to dedicate a weekend. Full time college with kids leaves little time for enjoyment. I've manage to get some new floors down and other remodels done.
I'll try to post pics of some of the new toys I plan on running in this system.
Thanks

Well I finally got around to modifying the overflow. I didn't want to use loc line so I had to take out a couple of teeth on each side for the 3/4" PVC to fit for the water return. Dremels come in real handy on projects like this. PVC is painted with black Krylon Fusion paint.

I also made an acrylic cover to help prevent any kind of unwanted algae growth and to keep critters out of the overflow. I also put a small guard on top of my return lines, minimizing the gap between the pvc and the cover to keep my shrimp and everything within the tank. Let me know what you think!

Ordered some stuff last night so I can make the rock structures. Just have to wait for it to ship in. Plan is to use 1/2" acrylic rods and some epoxy to make some columns on each side. I havent figured out yet what I am going to do with the middle. Once I get started I'll just have to see what comes out of it.

I'm by no means complaining, don't take it that way - it's giving me lots of ideas for mine. I think most in that area of 35-179G post in the Reef Discussion forum.

Have you got foam under the bottom panel?

Very nice build. I agree, it should be moved to the correct forum as it will be most useful for reefers that are looking at similar sized set-ups.

Heres the sticky at the top of the nano forum that you might have missed:

"The original intent of the nano tank forum was to provide a place for those who keep smaller tanks. These smaller tanks have requirements and restrictions imposed on the owners not common to Aquarists with larger tanks. What was a small group of people with small tanks has grown exponentially into a larger group with even larger tanks.

After receiving feedback from members and after thorough discussion among the staff we've decided to limit posting in the Nano forum to tanks with a main tank of 34 gallons and under. No distinction will be made for conventional tanks or All In One tanks (AIO), or for sump sizes no matter what they may be.

This is not an attempt by RC Staff to set standards in the hobby or redefine a nano tank. It is an attempt to serve our members best and still maintain the relevance of this forum."

Looking forward to seeing it up and running!

No worries, I didn't take it the wrong way. I opted not to use foam b/c the top surface is level which would not put any stress on the tank. Plus I went with a thicker bottom.

On a side note...I'm planning on building the rock structures this weekend. The acrylic rods I ordered 2 days ago are already here. One of the benefits from ordering only one state away. The plan is to use the rods through the center of the structure instead of relying on the epoxy putty to hold them. Hopefully I can form them the way I envision as this will be my first attempt at this. I'll try to capture the process.

Wow! Tagging along. I wish I had woodworking skills like you. I am trying to build a wood stand for my tank but, Trying to learn more before I pull the trigger.
