Jcr's Rimless

Great start! Looks really good!

I also made an acrylic cover to help prevent any kind of unwanted algae growth and to keep critters out of the overflow. I also put a small guard on top of my return lines, minimizing the gap between the pvc and the cover to keep my shrimp and everything within the tank. Let me know what you think!

Just beware that under the lights this may bow, I will be using glass.......

Looking forward to more pics..............

cheers

I hope you know that tank is far too small for that dog. It will out grow it in no time! Lol

Well I put together most of the rock work. Although I am not 100% with it, I am satisfied for now. I tried to minimize the amount of liverock that actually touches the bottom to prevent detritus build up.

I also wanted to have a black background. I didn't want to paint it so I opted for window tint. It is the cling on kind and so far it seems to be up holding fairly well.

Really like your build... I have never seen somebody use the background you chose, but it looks nice. The work you did on the stand is amazing...that is currently one of the only steps I have left in my build. BTW is your brindle dog a mastiff/mix? I love them.

Seems I have run into my first snag. I had pre-built a sump and separate holding tank for underneath before I had built the stand. I had originally planned on putting the sump through the front opening which worked out as planned and then guiding the holding tank through the side door. Since I had wrapped the openings in wood to give it a cleaner look, the acrylic holding tank is now 1/4" too big. Looks like I am going to be building something a little different now.

great build your stand looks like a work of art.i don't think i would put a tank on it.just sit and look at it lol.

the cling on window film was a FANTASTIC idea... I might go get some for my current tank!!!

It looks great, with that equipment selection, I'm sure you'll not be disappointed...

Nice stuff, and I want to reiterate what others have said about the window film. I've seen innumerable tips on this site, but that is a new one. Ingenious.

Thanks. I don't know if I can take full credit though since it is a product made for glass. lol. It's worth taking a look at though and I would recommend that it be a 2 person job. It like to stick together once peeled and is a pain to work with alone.

I also finally made my decision on what lights to use. I ordered the Hamilton Cayman Sun pendants to light my reef. I hope they are everything I expect them to be. I am however, a person who does not like a lot of light and hate the spotlight effect on most pendants.

I did it today, took me about 20 minutes to get it on, work all the bubbles out, and trim it to the tank size..

again.. GREAT idea.. (I've probably looked at over 250 build threads over the last year.. you're the only one who's used privacy film.. so YOU get the credit)

oh and it was $15 and I still have enough to another couple of tanks..

Premium called me today and said the Tropic Eden I ordered won't be in for another month so I guess I'll just have to wait.
I also usually do not run filter socks on my tanks and leave it up to the skimmer to pull everything out, but as a last minute decision I plan to run one on this tank. So right now I am making a DIY sock holder. I figured WTH since I have scrap acrylic laying around. Nothing fancy though.
