Jebao Dosing pump thread.

still have the Jeabo?

still have the Jeabo?

I was thinking of getting one. since it's been awhile since this post..any problems with it?

I got one of these about 2 weeks ago.

Its essentially a profilux ghl doser. The pump heads are quite robust and the motors seem to be decent quality. The body has a cheap plastic/hollow feel to it. The buttons are not that precise.

The calibration is fairly precise - didn't really have to tinker with it that much.

The bracket set it comes with was fairly useless for me - I ended up making my own bracket.

You basically set number of times a day, interval (i.e every x days for non-daily use) - 0 for daily, mL and times.

As for power-outage - when I got it I played with some of the settings - unplugged it and came back in an hours and it still had the settings. I think it will lose the setting eventually if the power is out long enough (probably a capacitor to hold power for the setting).

Couldn't be happier - beats the heck out of my Marine Magic and I just don't seem myself spending $500 for a doser.

I just received mine and so far my only problem is that there is a systematic error on the calibration. It consistently doses 1ml more than programmed. See my results:

And yes I've tried recalibrating. I get the same results. Note that the calibration is actually very good, there is perhaps a slight deviation from the line at larger volumes (.3 ml compared to .0 or .1) but overall the calibration has an r2 of ~1 so it's very good. But as you can see there is a systematic error. Every quantity is ~1ml more than expected. I think this must be a problem with the software, and how the calibration is calculated, or in how the timing for the motor turning on and off is executed.

In any case, I can still dose accurately by selecting 1ml more than I desire. But I can't dose 1ml, which is a shame.

Other people might want to check their small quantities are accurate because it could make a big difference. For example, if I wanted to dose 20ml during a day, and spread it out with 20 x 1ml doses, I would actually be dosing 40 ml.

I got one via a group buy. Channels 1-3 dosed 10% over. Channel 4 was correct. The vendor these came from was based in China. I agreed to send the unit back on my dime for replacement. Well, this was back in October. After the thing not showing up, according to the recipient, I find a familiar looking package on my porch 2 weeks ago....yup it was my friggen doser returned to me with a sticker that states the package was "unclaimed".

Sorry for the long story, but lesson learned. No more group buys for me.

I deal with China for my business and have learned it's very easy to get goods out of China, but not so easy the other eay around. About half the packages we ship back to thrm for warranty credit end up coming back to us or just disappear. It's kinda ridiculous

That's interesting, so far I have only checked channel 4 thoroughly. I'm going to have to repeat what I have done for all 4 channels.

By the way, if you had a consistent 10% extra dose (i.e. 1 ml gave 1.1, 2 ml gave 2.2, 30 ml gave 33ml, etc), then that would indicate a calibration error, and it should have been possible to correct it by fiddling with the calibration procedure. By finding the value in ml that multiplied by 1.1 gives 100ml (90.9), you could trick the unit into giving the correct dose. So if you had told the software it had reached 100ml but it was actually 90.9 ml, then it should have gotten rid of the 10% extra dose.

I can't do that in my case because my error is not proportional to the amount dispensed. I could trick the calibration into giving me 1ml when I ask for 1ml but then it would be wrong if I changed it to more than 1ml.

You know, while I was waiting, I got more and more nervous about trusting my SPS to this doser and ended up buying a litermeter setup instead. Soooo glad I did for piece of mind alone.

I got mine yesterday and have it all setup and calibrated. Looks like they pre-calibrate them at the factory? Mine had liquid in the tubes and it calibrated pretty close to the default numbers that were in there already. This is my first doser so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems to work and the price was great. I have it plugged into my Apex as a fail-safe so if it gets stuck on, the Apex will cut power if the pH reaches 8.5. I read a post on another forum where the DP-4 got stuck on after a power outage and dumped a whole lot of Alk & Cal all at once. Not pretty.

Also, I ordered the bundle package from Fish-Street. Came with a stand/bracket, tube holder, some silicone tubing, and a 3 chamber liquid container. I'm really impressed with the liquid container. Really nice quality and looks great. Was the perfect fit in my super tiny and cramped sump/stand area.

And even though I ordered it from the USA warehouse section they shipped it out of Hong Kong via DHL. Got it in 2 days and they only charged the $5 for shipping that the USA warehouse would have cost. This is my second Fish-Street order, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

How much time have you been using the Acropower??? Have you seen any improvement on the corals???

Thanks in advance...

Sorry, it's still a fairly new tank and I just started AcroPower a few days ago, so too early to tell. I'm only dosing 1mL a day. I read lots of good things about it and it wasn't very expensive, figured I had a free dosing channel so why not? Hope it works

I would check that small dose. That doser isn't very accurate at that small of a dose.

Yeah, you're right. I just did a spot check on one of the pump heads and it put out just about 2mL even though set for 1mL. I'm going to re-calibrate it in place now because when I first set it up at my desk I was using short tubes. I read somewhere that it should be calibrated from the input side using the same lengths of tubing that it will have while in use. If that doesn't sort it out, then I'll just re-program it to dose the 2mL every other day rather than daily. Alk & Cal won't have that issue because it's dosing larger amounts, so if not accurate I can easily adjust accordingly. But I will be re-calibrating each head and testing the output for sure.

I'm sill happy with it for the price.

Are there any reviews on the newest version (DP-2)? It's a 2-head unit and a 4-head slave can be attached. Both Fish Street and Amazon have them for sale ($75).

I have a GHL doser2 for 2-part, but I have been looking for a cheap doser to put inside a fridge for dosing refrigerated foods. Thinking about this one, but have not seen any reviews for the new model, unless I am overlooking them?

Got recently. Leaked back into holding container. Used check valve. Problem solved.

The design of these pump heads should prevent any fluid from leaking back to the dosing containers or draining out of the dosing containers when the pump is off. If this happens it indicates that the rollers are not pinching the hose shut which they should be by design. You might want to check the pump head installation (See post 98 on page 4 of this thread) because this could also cause inaccurate dosing. Most probably under dosing problems.
