Good Point!I actually made the mistake of buying a Red Sea Berlin skimmer as my first choice in 2006. So glad that's not around in my house anymore!
This is what I think too. I will ask Roger. That is a great idea. Although you really hear a lot of good about their customer service. Thank you so much.
Awesome!!! Toys!!! :bounce3:
I just ordered the Tunze 6055. I am super excited!
The 6055 is pretty small for a 180, how did you choose that one? IMO the 6095 would be the minimum size for a 180 and you would want two of them. Before buying anything else, ask Roger in the Tunze section what he would do. My 6100 was too narrow of a flow pattern for my 40x40 tank, he sent me the shrouds off a 6200 and it was perfect.
Tunze has a much more narrow flow pattern. Good deal on getting your money back from Amazon.
I believe Roger used to do a softy tank in his home but he knows better than anyone what would be ideal and what would work.
Even at 5' the 6055 doesn't have the oomph to move enough water.
If you could swap out the 6055, go with the 6095. It has a much wider flow pattern. Here is a review of a 6095 running on a 185 gallon tank.

I realize you went with tunze, but I'll throw my experience out there.
I have 2 mp10qd's and 2 jebao pp8's. Hands down the vortechs move way more water in a wider flow pattern then the jebaos's. But what I do like about the jebao's besides the price, coupled to my apex I can start and stop them and define any amount of programming I want. Unlike the vortechs which your stuck to the flow patterns they determined would be best.
If when I initially setup this tank money wasn't an issue, I would have gone with 2 mp40's instead of the jebao's.
I bought my first Tunzes used and I recommend it.
