Jebao WP25 wavemaker questions

Ive got 2 wp-25's in my tank, and they're great. The ONLY thing I'm not a fan of is when I plug the power cord into the control box, it sparks. But, then it works completely fine. Build quality is pretty good for the money, and they are quiet. The controller has a built in light sensor for night time, so when it gets dark outside the pumps go from your program to a consistent, gently flow.
I had 2 x wp40's....both died after around the same time (14 to 15 months), they both crapped out within 2 weeks of each other. It started out by them shutting off on their own intermittently...I would disconnect and reconnect and then they would restart again....1 day they stopped restarting no matter what I did....and that was it. I have 2 X Tunze 6105's as my main in tank circulation and was using these as additional flow. I currently have a RW15 and a Koralia 4 as the supplemental flow. By the way I complained to Jebao...and they did absolutely nothing...I was a group buy organizer so I had a contact person....but that meant nothing to them. Their solution was for me to purchase another pump....NICE !!!!!
hmmmmmmmmm.....what would that entail? I still have them.....the magnets did not separate or break apart if that's what you are refering to. The impellors don't spin anymore.
started doing a little research and apparently some of the early pumps had this problem, just stopped working 14 to 18 months later. While my pumps are still going I'm going to start shopping for new motor blocks just to see how much as the average seems to be $40 so far which pales in comparison to how much I've spent on other pump parts.
This is from a koralia 1050. Less than a year old.
Same thing happened to 3 Taam Rio pumps I had.
It's some sort of plastic infused magnet. Absolute crap.

Is that the magnet on the impellor or part of the motor on the pump itself?

as part of the Atlanta Reef Club's group buy...I ordered around 20 pumps for members of our club....the total amount purchased was over 200 pumps so I paid around $65 each if memory serves me correctly....not sure I would be willing to spend another $40 per pump on something I paid $65 for new......

P.S. I like the RW series alot better than the WP's.

That's the impeller magnet.
Feeling a little discouraged about getting a jebao now. Newer models doesn't necessarily mean better. Half the time it means the company found a way to make things cheaper/junkier.
Also struggling with the idea of spending more money than my entire setup is worth for a tunze. Sigh.

I put the non working pump on the other controller, and it continued not working. The working pump works on the non working pump's controller. I didn't see anything unusual inside the pump, and the impeller spins by hand.
I only bought them because I dislike the company and their tactics. Thee were payments made to people that made positive posts here about them. I thought it only right to have first hand experience with their products if I was going to trash the company.
The WP series was patterned after the Tunze pumps while the RW series is patterned after the ecotech ....I should really qualify those statements by saying "in looks/appearance" only. Obviously these pumps do not have the longevity and customer service history when compared to Tunze and Ecotech.
That's why I have my 2 Tunze 6105's as my main circulation pumps and the Jebao's as the supplemental flow. My Tunze's have bee running since early 2011 without incident.
WHEN the Jebao's run....they do provide alot of flow and they performed well, (albeit only for the 13 months.......)
