Jebo 520 skimmer thread.

Alrighty! The skimmer came UPS today. It looks and feels to be made well enough. The venturi on it pulls out of the inlet very easily with o-ring seals for easy cleaning. The venturi looks like it would work well with a decent pump running it. I will not be using it though. I will use my Sedra 9000 NW.The collection cup is good sized also, no drain fitting on it, I may put one on at a later date. ( Guess I'll actually have to clean the cup more often ). Also something I was really surprised to see was that the top of the skimmer just under the neck comes off as well. Makes it really easy to clean the inside of the skimmer if you needed to and connects with a o-ring and twist-lock fitting. So far I like it. It isn't over-made but it isn't going to fall apart on me either. The only downside I see this far is everything being metric. There is a cheap valve in the box and I have no idea what it is for, doesn't fit anything. I will need a ball valve to regulate the water height in the skimmer as well. A trip to Home Depot and I should be set. I'll take some pics before I put it all together.

The whole thing next to a 2 liter bottle.

And the Home Depot parts put on to adapt my pump and regulate water level.

I'm going to let the cement cure for an hour or so before dropping it in my sump. I'll post more pics after I get it running.

Very cool. The thing looks solid enough also.
At that price you can't really beat it. If this works out you just might have gotten a "Euro Reef" for cheap.

What are the demensions? Wwhat is the width and height of the main tube?

Seems like alot of bang for the buck at 39.90. I was thinking of useing an Oceanrunner 2700 with this skimmer

I will be interested infollowing how things go. Good luck

The main body is 6" wide and 14" tall. The water air mix shoots into the center tube and exhausts from the bottom outside. Shouldn't have any bubbles making it back to the sump. I'm sure you could use the OR 2700 but I think it would be a bit under powered for a skimmer this large.

I've never understood the pricing of ER skimmers. Maybe the new PCI pumps will warrant the price. I'm not saying they arent good skimmers just over priced.

Is that what looks like a lid (black top) on the collection cup removable?

Yes it is removable, just sits on top. Wouldn't work if it was a beckett - to much air blow it off onto the floor - but should be fine for a NW. If you had to weight it down that would be easy enough.

Got it in the sump and running. No leaks. Looks like it is doing what it is suppose to! Already making skimmate after not even 5 minutes of run time. Keep in mind my hands were in the sump hooking it up just minutes before the pic was taken.

I am curious to see what happens to my orp level though. With my beckett/ nw skimmer it stayed over 400. We shall see. I think I'm gong to order about 10 more of these things before the price goes up! Seriously though it is a great deal if your handy with plumbing skills and don't mind about 15 minutes of work to get it set up right. It does not come ready to run out of the box.

I Just recieved mines.

I Just recieved mines.

Hello Sherm,
Well I just purchased my jebo about a week ago and recieved it tonight. i would like to know what parts you picked up at home depot because like you said it looks a little incomplete. Also what did you use the adjustable air hose for? it doesnt fit on anything or does it? lol i just couldnt figure out the japanese writing J/k any info would be truely appreciated. thanks alot

Adrian

I purchased a 1" slip fit to 3/4" mpt fitting, a 3/4" hose barb to fpt fitting and a 1" ball valve and some pvc cement. I did not use the venturi supplied by Jebo for mine. If you want to use the venturi then you should figure out a way to adapt a 1" I.D. hose to the inlet of the skimmer that way you will be able to take it apart for cleaning if need be. The air line they supply should be connected to the bottom air inlet and to the bottom of the riser neck so it can get fresh air.

Yeah.. I gotta see how this turns out.... Looks like it is really full of bubbles.. Where did you get the NW at?

I bought the NW from http://www.customaquatic.com/customaquatic/searchhomekeyresult5.asp
I had my own wp4 pump from http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/product.detail/iid/8787/cid/2142

also, are you running this external from your sump, or is it internal??

I'm running it in my sump. I have never cared for running skimmers external.

This thing makes the Coralife ones look expensive.

The Coralife skimmers are pretty much complete units, come with pumps, and are much easier to set up than this one was.

Any updated pictures showing skimmate?

What brand and model pump did you use?

This could be easily converted into an external re-circulating skimmer powered by a Sedra 5000 NW for example.

I'm not in the market for a skimmer at all. I'm running some very nice ones already. But this could be a fun project:)

I'm gonna get one :D

I posted the pump info above. Nothing terribly exciting to post pic wise. I just pulled my beckett/nw recirc skimmer out and put this one in its place so I don't expect to see to much in the way of skimmate for a while. It is a great body to work with though. The Sedra 5000 recirc would be great but I think you could go with the 9000 on a recirc without a problem.

On a side note my tank temp is now 77 degrees. It hasn't been that low since - well - since I started my beckett. As a matter of fact I have been running 2 cooling fans on a controller over my sump to keep the temp under 83. The fans came on day or night. I think I may have to put a heater back in my sump!
