Wow, so sorry to see the losses.

Did your heater stick on as you stated you were cooking your corals?

Thanks for the sympathy. I guess you could say the temp controller got "stuck"................

Damn dude, so sorry for your loss. I've definently been there before, and I can smell the smell you reffered to right now...

It appears you still have tissue on many others, so I hope everything bounces back for you... sorry again man.

Thanks Austin. Some of the corals seem just fine, but others have even less tissue now than they did this morning.:(

Jeremy,

Sorry to see those pics! :(

How many heaters do you run? The temps shot up pretty fast.

Thanks Mike. I run a single 800w Ti heater on the controller, and the controller is usually backed up by being connected to my profilux, which would normally have cut the power to the unit in question is the temps had gone too far out of range.

Dang it man. You are not having good luck lately at all! Crap, couldn't have happened to someone less deserving of more crap piling on.

Thanks Pete. It's getting to be quite the pile.

Crappity crap crap!

Sorry Jeremey. If I have anything you lost, I'll hook you up with re-seed frags.

It seems like the reef gods test you annually.

Thanks Kevin. Let's hope I'm not starting a new tradition.

So sorry to hear. I had the same thing happen to me last year and I lost everything fish included. Mine was up over 100 degree's by the time I found it and the smell you mention is horrible!

Thanks Rob. 100 degrees would have definitely been worse. See, a silver lining in every cloud.

OMG Jeremy I am so so sorry!!!

It must be one of those days as my boxer got out today and I was chasing him for the last 3 hours!!!! I finally got him when I had him cornered he jumped a fence into someones back yard then I climbed over and got him finally!! Now to come home and read this about your tank!!!

December is the bad month for me Every December I have lost thousands in fish for the last 4 years!!!!

I have given up on fish and fish only systems!!

Jeremy if there is anything I can do to help please LMK, I have lots of acros now so LMK if you need any frags I have tons with your name on them for free to replace the ones lost.

Good Luck and God Bless the Reef!!!

Thanks Chris. Been a heck of a day. I got to "improve" on it by picking my daughter up from school and breaking the news to her that she couldn't continue piano lessons til daddy starts making $$ again. Man, it's really hard to deal with a 6 year old girl in tears.:(

I feel your pain Jeremy!!

Sorry to hear about the wrasse :( .

How is everything else doing, have you figured out what went wrong yet?

Nope. Nothing really fits, but I'd guess that it was the power outage and a slowly increasing temp, that culminated in this morning, when it just got too hot for things to handle.

My most sincerest condolences for your losses. I know how hard you have worked to get that beautiful system up and then moved. You do not deserve this Jeremy. I wish I could do something to help :(

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks Jim. I wish I could do something too, but there's only so much before you have to let nature run it's course.

Mini update: Had to leave before any of the lights came on today, but I could see a few more glowing white acros under the moonlights.:( I also have a nearly wrasse free tank. I mentioned I found the Lineatus, now the Flame and Hooded have passed. The Radiant was still alive last night, but I'd be shocked if he still was this morning.:( The only one that seems unaffected was the Leopard.:)
I pulled the obvious casualties out yesterday, cleaned the skimmer, changed the filter socks out, replaced the carbon, and did a large water change. Got more water prepping now for another round tonight, but I'm afraid to turn the lights on and see the extent of the damage in it's full glory.

Well, the carnage continues. I'll post too many pics of things none of you want to see.

With all that has already been going on personally, this is just too much. I have decided to break the tank down and sell it. Once life settles down again, I will be back, but I can't handle this now. A series of FS threads will appear over the next few days, as I salvage what I can, and hunker down to ride out my own personal financial dilemas. If you know of anyone who is interested in a spectacular reef setup, consisting of a 80"x24"x30" acrylic tank and furniture grade stand and canopy, please let me know. I'll be trying to figure out pricing in my "spare time".

This is obviously an unpleasant thing to deal with, and I've been contemplating taking the tank down anyhow. This just sealed the deal. I have very much enjoyed meeting you all, both on and off the boards. While I won't have a tank for a while, I'll still definitely be around here on RC. I'm still debating setting up a nano-ish tank, but I need to get through the next few days before I decide on that. Thanks to everyone that has made this journey enjoyable, with particular thanks to a few reefers, and good friends, Mark Poletti, Jim Sotello, and Tim Plaza. There are many others that I'd add to the list, but I've already been extraordinarily long winded.

As we talked earlier, this may not be what any of us would ever want, but I do believe this is the correct thing to do at the present time. The last year has been rough, but I'm glad that we've had the times we've had. :)

wow... im pretty speachless. I'm truely sorry to hear about what happened.

Like what Mark said, I think taking a break is the correct thing to do. Hope to see you back one day.

so sorry to hear about your tank jeremy. I always hate it when shiet like this happens.
I know I'm just a newb but if I can be of any assistance, just ask.
