Jet Lagged Wrasse

I recently got a juvenile Covis wrasse from a distributor in CA. I'm in CT so a bit of a time difference. Well the guy sleeps in the sand (if you haven't seen wrasse go into the sand-- it's pretty amazing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN91r6tDzF0) and doesn't come out until around 2 or 3 when lights are already at max intensity. lol

Also he's the last one to go to sleep, the tank will be dim with no one on the reef but him. :bounce3:

Very common. Key is to maintain CT time and let it acclimate. Ivechadcleopards take a month to fully align.

You're lucky that it actually came out as it's not uncommon for them to hide in the sand for days after introduction.

mine hid for a solid month. i thought he had died but one day, he popped up out of the sand. you can set your watch by him...he emerges every day at 11 a.m.

Yeah I got a Melanurus wrasse and the covis at the same time. They both went into the sand right after introducing but came out prob 4 hr later and immediately started hunting snails haha
