Sounds just like me, Jim, so I've given up on taking shots of my tank. We need a crash course from Mark one of these days. You know, it took me about 4 years just to figure out how to turn the flash off my camera?? :p

Well, I was a digital video major college, so I'm pretty good with electronics. Mainly video and video editing though. I never took a photography class. I learned alot about shutter speed, f-stops etc., etc, and shot several video projects. But shooting fish tanks is very difficult.

Digital camera's work on light. The light the ccd's read, the camera converts into images.

The problem with fish tanks is that there is a piece of glass infront of what you want to shoot, and there is all kinds of light coming from behind it. You are dealing with a couple of obstacles right off the bat. There are ways to get over them, but you need to understand more about how the camera reacts to light in order to do so. I need to learn how to set the camera correctly to shoot in the light I have. Which is very difficult w/out knowing exactly what what I'm doing.

I should really study up as I am tired of taking lame pics :(

Lesson #1 for Vic:

Acronym: Jim_S
Translation: Jim Sexy

:lol2:

What else you want to learn, Vic? I have all the answers :D

Jim - you know way more than I do. That sounds confusing!

Maybe your problem is a 4 yr old camera!

Jim, thanks, Mark's got me covered. Gonna pick it up in a little while.

 Well, I hope someone, other than me, thinks you're worthy enough to give you one!!! Unfortunately, mine passed 3 weeks ago, so I can't use that as an excuse to keep buying corals anymore.:(

Alright, so I messed around a little tonight and took some more pics of fish.

Not the best, not the worst.

That looks sweet Jim. How stable are the top rocks? Are they balancing or are they wedged in there pretty good. The Purple Tang looks really happy. :)

Thanks Mark. It really sucks not being able to take good pics though :(

The very top rock is the only one that isn't as stable as I want it. I'm gonna pick up some epoxy this weekend and get it set in.

I can't wait to add the sohal. Its just been dying to get out of my sump!

Yeah, the PT is a big daddy. Had it for a while now. Another local had it before me.

I have 4 wrasses in there. The one in the last two pics is a rosy scale.

Looking good, Jim. Are you staying BB?

For now :)

I may do a dsb in my sump. We'll see.

Here we go with the BB vs SB  You know what my thoughts are about keeping wrasses and BB. That is just one of the reasons that I elected for a SSB and still keep 65+ times turnover. I vote that the Sohal goes in the tank today :p
