Jeremy!!! Whats up bud?

Thanks!

The fish are doing okay. They'll be in treatment until Friday morning. I hope they can make it. I haven't been feeding them for fear of an ammonia build up, but right now, they're all still alive. They're all a bit scared still, but seem to be doing fine.

PM on its way :)

Jim. Feed them! Seriously. Feed them so they get better. Just do a few gallons a day water change. If you keep on it with a few gallons a day it will be a cake walk.

I'm QTing a single tang in a 20g. 2.5 gallons of water change every other day is keeping the ammonia down while the HOB has a chance to start a cycle. I'll be keeping him in QT for 4-6 weeks, so it will get easier.

I'm no expert, but I would think that they need to eat well to keep the immune system up!

Hang in there.

Thanks Pete :)

I wasn't planning on doing a w/c, but maybe I'll reconsider my options. I do agree that its best to feed them though. I've just been hesitant as there is literally no filtration in the tank.

The biggest problem with doing water changes on QT tanks is that you are removing the medication. To accurately replace it can be difficult.

I figured they're only going to be in there for 6 days, and ammonia will kill them quicker than not eating.

I'll see what I can do after I run some tests tonight,

Jim

Yeah, I struggled with the medication question myself. I opted to figure out the correct dose for a 5 gallon bucket of water change water, and then replace tank water from there. My theory is that the water I take out will be replaced with the new medicated water. Now, in actuality, who knows if this is good or bad. I always figure there is a margin of error in the dosing instructions on medication, because most people are stupid and overdose anyway, so it shouldn't hurt too much?

Who knows, maybe I'm the stupid one...

:D

I hope everyone had a great 4th and stayed safe!!! My block usually parks several cars at the end of each opening to the street and we have a huge block party. Great times :D

Update:

I pulled all the tangs out of QT on Thursday evening. It allowed for just a bit above the 6 day recommended dosage for kanaplex. No water changes other than topping-off and I added some prime twice.

All 3 fish survived, and the purple tang is looking brand new. It was by far the hardiest, and longest in captivity of the 3 fish, and it appears to have made a brilliant recovery. I placed this fish back in the display.

The other two are still in the sump right now and have been very shy about coming out. The dussumier seems to have developed what appears to be a little HLLE, but has colored up quite a bit. I'm not sure if its just stress causing the discoloration yet though. It does seem as if the fungus has subsided, and hopefully been irradicated. Time will tell :)

The maculiceps (the worst of the bunch as far as infection goes) also appears to have its colors back. The fungus has subsided to the same point as the dussumier. It doesn't appear to have any HLLE, but like the dussumier has been very shy.

Both are eating still, and my plan is to just leave them in the sump for the next week or two and see how things develop.

I want to thank Rafael again for letting me borrow this QT tank and all his help getting the fish out of the display. Very cool bro

I'll see if I can get some pics of the PT later today when the lights come on.

If I did that, have a feeling that my problems would start all over again.

Tangs are a PITA. I want to add another one, but don't want to go through all the hassle :(

Thanks guys!!!

The maculiceps and dussumier look to be getting more color, but its been hard to get a shot of them. Here are some updates.

I met up with Davey and Tom at Exotic on Thursday afternoon, and Davey passed on a nice male Lyre Tail that he was looking to get rid of. Good looking out Davey!!!

Thanks Davey!!! The fish is doing great and looks wonderful. I just need to get him some ladies

Then, I went over to Marks house last night for some late night pizza and reef talk :D

Well, that ended up turning into Makro jumping in the tank and clipping me some frags. Lets just say he was very generous...... ;)

Thanks Mark. Great to see you and Jt!!

Hey Adrian!

Yeah, my collection is slowly growing :) But nowhere near what I would like it to be.

I did pick up a few really nice frags from Mark last night. Two stand outs are the sunset monti and the tri color :D

The skimmer is performing wonderfully. I posted some update pics in the ATB USA forum not too long ago. I really couldn't ask for anything more out of it. I am very happy with the product that ATB produces :D

Hopefully I have some more ATB goodies that will be arriving State side in the next week or two ;)
