So I finally got some pics together of my long project. I started by getting this tank and somehow thinking I was just gonna set it up without making any mods........
I set up the tank and totally loved it. Although the whitewash stain didnt match anything in frontroom and I decided to restain it. After finally finding the color that I wanted went stained away. I dont have a great pic of the finish but Ill try to get more later. Fortunately I have a great father-in-law and he helped slap on 7 coats of heaven. NOTHING can get through that plasticated finish!
While I had it down I decided to paint the room. Also I let siapin talk me into a "simple" closed loop system running a dart 3600 and a super squirt. I didnt have much room to work with so I did a few mods on the bulkheads and the supersquirt to condense everything. I didnt like the white plumbing so after I finished I simply spray painted the outside black.
NOTE: in some of the shots siapin slacking and watching tv while he supposed to be plumbing my tank on his own free time.
The pics are difficult to see but inside my tank I lined my tank with mirror finish stainless steel. (not recommended by a few) I couldnt resist to show off my fab skills. I formed a few pieces and lattached it with liquid nails. I absolutely love it because I can see every square inch of my sump from anywhere.
I decided with a big cringe to cut my canopy that I spent countless hours sanding and staining to properly fit my pendant. Now I know you are all thinking with a great pendant like that why would I use a canopy.....well its simple.....the 2-250watt DE HQI's hurt my wifes eyes...:mixed: I needed a quick fix....
Overall I am very happy with how it came out. Thanks to my wife for putting up with 6 months of nonsense. Siapin for all his help. And my father-in-law for his skills in staining. Oh yeah, and everyone on RC that gaves me tips and suggestions.
I have a few upgrades that I still need....skimmer and a couple of powerheads....and maybe a wavemaker. $$$$$$$$$$....in time......
