So I finally got some pics together of my long project. I started by getting this tank and somehow thinking I was just gonna set it up without making any mods........

I set up the tank and totally loved it. Although the whitewash stain didnt match anything in frontroom and I decided to restain it. After finally finding the color that I wanted went stained away. I dont have a great pic of the finish but Ill try to get more later. Fortunately I have a great father-in-law and he helped slap on 7 coats of heaven. NOTHING can get through that plasticated finish!

While I had it down I decided to paint the room. Also I let siapin talk me into a "simple" closed loop system running a dart 3600 and a super squirt. I didnt have much room to work with so I did a few mods on the bulkheads and the supersquirt to condense everything. I didnt like the white plumbing so after I finished I simply spray painted the outside black.

NOTE: in some of the shots siapin slacking and watching tv while he supposed to be plumbing my tank on his own free time.

The pics are difficult to see but inside my tank I lined my tank with mirror finish stainless steel. (not recommended by a few) I couldnt resist to show off my fab skills. I formed a few pieces and lattached it with liquid nails. I absolutely love it because I can see every square inch of my sump from anywhere.

I decided with a big cringe to cut my canopy that I spent countless hours sanding and staining to properly fit my pendant. Now I know you are all thinking with a great pendant like that why would I use a canopy.....well its simple.....the 2-250watt DE HQI's hurt my wifes eyes...:mixed: I needed a quick fix....

Overall I am very happy with how it came out. Thanks to my wife for putting up with 6 months of nonsense. Siapin for all his help. And my father-in-law for his skills in staining. Oh yeah, and everyone on RC that gaves me tips and suggestions.

I have a few upgrades that I still need....skimmer and a couple of powerheads....and maybe a wavemaker. $$$$$$$$$$....in time......

I am only using a mag 9 for return right now. I am planning on upgrading when I get my new skimmer. I am runnning a HORRIBLE berlin skimmer right now. I do alot of water changes and scrub alot right now. I have a few sps frags that are doing great but I am saving for the skimmer I want so I can have a boatload of anthias and a grip of sps! The skimmer I am getting is gonna be the tunze 9020. I could go with the tunze 9010 but I would rather overskim then be sorry.

Awesome Job on that!!!

I also have a 100 gallon tank the exact same size as yours, and I am thinking about doing mine over for cloosed loop.

And sadly, I am using the same crappy berlin skimmer. lol! What a piece huh? I'm looking into a ASM or Remora skimmer, but still looking into research.

But great looking setup, and keep up the good work! Its definately going to pay off.

i wanted an asmg3, but since I am limited on space I am moving towards the tunze.

I'm honestly jealous of this guy....his tank is kinda bland right now, mostly b/c empty...but in about a year or so, it's going to be rockin'. My tank is plenty older than his, with more growth and color, but this thing has so much room for growth...I'd do a straight up trade for my 29g in a second.

They say that 3rd time is a charm....

this is actually the 33rd time that this tank has been REfilled over the past year. We had to empty it dozens of times b/c he didn't like the color of the stand, his wife didn't like where it was, so we had to move it 1/8" to the side, leaks, drips, leaks, and more drips.

So now that this tank has SPS, a few fish, and an anemone that has already split after a month, lets hope that the construction is over.

And yes, I did pause a few times here and there to watch TV, but c'mon...it was Friends....and besides I bought all his plumbing for him, so don't pay any attention to his complaints.

Finally - Everybody check back in a year to see the great progress this tank will have made, and the growth, vigor, and color that will come from this future tank of the month (well maybe not that good, but who knows?!!).

   33 times......it was honestly 7 times!! And As I recall we were also trying to finish it while watching the world cup! If that tells you a little on how long it took.

The maristar is as quiet as my old jbj 36" pc light. i am very pleased with the noise. in other words it is pretty quiet!

I didnt like the way the wood looked inside my stand so I formed mirror finish stainless steel. there really is no benefit. but since i got some for free from work and formed it for looks i decided i wanted to do it. the only possible benefit is that i can see all of my sump from the front. I dont think it raises my temp levels....it doesnt get hot and retain heat. i only have a small light for my sump.
