Joe the Coral!!

lol no way that's the new ORA release. What are they thinking over there? I really don't see much of a difference at all between it and the others mentioned above. Pretty dissapointing if you ask me.

The radial coralites do not appear in this representation to be in a rosette configuration. At this present time I will agree that Selago it is.

However, I will not rule out it morphing into either an Echinuraki or Turakenata down the road.

I like it too, atleast in the picture posted. It looks like it has more long, branching growth, like a stag.

JOE THE PLUMBER??? ...coral?

Seems they've run out of things to do and are re-naming existing corals :D. Looks wicked though! I have to admit that I have never seen an ORA frag even half the size of the one pictured come into a LFS before...

I have received 2 frags that big or bigger from ORA, a Blue Voodoo and a Pearlberry and my Roscoe is pretty big to.

Yea I would have to agree that this looks like last month release as well. Find me a coral with something to show off. It looks nice and all but wow me please. Give me some red and yellow mixed or blue with yellow polyps. Just my two cents

Looks like Tenuis to me. Even if it werent, it looks a lot like wht is commonly imported s Tenuis and relatively common.

I applaud ORA for many of the things they do but as of late, I cant help but feel this is another "scheme" to label corals and mark them up and/or cause a surge of sales. I dont like that Tyree does it but at least his corals are "rare" and unique. From what i've seen, most of what ORA puts out has been in the hobby for years and relatively common.

This is by no means a bash but just an observation and an invitation to discuss what others think about this.

Its good marketing, they have done very well recently and have apealed to the masses, and are available.

The demand that is created, does not directly impact natural reefs.

I believe farms like this will be the "average" coral soon and the "bread and butter" of the trade allowing people to get a coral in thier area that they saw in someones tank from across the country.

I don't like that they have taken a few "collectible" pieces that were already established to rename. How many times did you have to explain the ORA and the Cali Tort is the SAME thing. That frustrated me.

Obviously overtime thier values per piece should drop as they will be common as garden snails, so I still think there will be a "collectible" market.

Just get the dang specie correct and don't rip anything already established off and I see an excellent niche they are creating for themselves.

And UPDATE THAT LAME WEBSITE, so it can be an actual reference tool.

ORA and High End/LE's I would not put together. If so you need to add all of the other farms like TCN, etc which just further saturates the high end market which is already dripping wet. It gives the smaller stores like Atlantis or Youreef a chance to specialize in that high end market.

I call them the "Starbucks of Reefing" a coffee shop on every corner and an ORA frag in every tank.

Which isn't a "bad" thing, it made Henry Ford rich.....

Dang! I must like Starbucks then! I've got 6 ORA corals in my tank! IMO, one of the things that makes ORA corals appealing is their hardiness and ability to adapt under various lighting conditions!
