Joe's 190g 60x36x20 SLOW Mixed Reef Build.......

Joe, glad the light and skimmer are working out well. I think that means your gonna have to stock heavy...dangit, i hate when that happens :)

I think so too. Its a real shame, I guess its gonna be a tank full of tangs. It really tempted me to buy another, and leave this guy on the 60g, where I'll have a puffer only lol.

alright, now this thing is going into break in mode I think. I checked it, and nothing happened since lastnight, and the milk isnt too milky, so we'll see how it does a couple days from now. Or maybe, it just cleaned everything out of the tank that it possibly can, I mean it is rated for 300g, and its in a 60g lol.

Heres a pic of the skimmate, theres about 1 1/2 hours of work right here....

Thanks to breadmanmike for hooking up the 6080 spare parts. Its GREATLY appreciated. Especially after Tunze said they werent going to help, since they were out of warranty, which is understandable. Youre officially the man, Mike.

Heres a crappy pic, but my main display was so disgusting with red slime algae, and my skimmer wasnt really skimmer like it should have been. So I have my two 6045s, and my two 6080s in my 60g BB cube for the time being. I also have the octo sitting inside the tank itself lol. So it wont look pretty right now, but it sure will be clean!

I wish I had a before pic, but EVERYTHING was covered in red slime. My green monti and maze brain both were killed, along with my hydnophora, since they were all so covered with red slime. The tank has a nice cool blue tint to it with the hamilton 14ks, but not disgusting blue like the Current USA 14ks made it look. Bad pic, I know. I will get more tomorrow in the daylight.

That clown is pretty daring haging in that clam.

I sent you the broken one for spare parts. All it needs is a new shaft for the prop.

thats what I figured when I saw the good one, and the broken one...Im assuming one of those were good. I just threw it in the 6080, and it worked, lol. That clown is fearless lol

Alright, so this skimmer has got me pumped up to get this tank going ASAP. I went to OSH today, to get some weldon... well, they dont have it there lol. So I was browsing around, and I found some grey pond foam. I figure why not give that a shot? Johan Susanto tank looks awesome, and he uses it. I only the the back walls, and the front of the overflow. This stuff doesnt stick to make things very well until its dry. So I gotta wait until this stuff dries, then flip the tank on its side, and get those other faces. here are a few pics before it dries right now...

What do you guys think? Should I coat it with sand, or leave it grey/black. Im leaning towards just leaving it how it is.

I just tried to peel that masking tape off. Boy what a PITA. I wont use masking with this stuff again. I didnt know it was going to be such a controlled flow of it. I thought it was going to be like spray paint, where I need to take off where the excess would be.

In the other corner, where I knocked out the overflow, I will use tape though. Im gonna put a couple random shaped shelved of acylic over there too, and coat that with the foam, so it looks kinda like a rock.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. but with sand, it'd end up coraline also, but where theres no coraline, itd be that green live rock color. I figured the back would endup looking like this FSB I had....

I got tired of that FSB look, and had to take it out. The last thing I would want to do is have to knock the back out when I get tired of it lol.

Not above the 190, no. Im using one of the LAs above my 60g now though. I dont know how Im gonna set up the lighting on this 190g. Im thinking of making a wooden "floating" canopy. If only I were good with wood working, Id already have half the lighting set up lol. I also gotta figure out if this is going in the side room, or if we're turning our extra bedroom into a fish/computer room. Im 95% sure by the end of May, this thing will be up and running, and hopefully pretty dang close to being done cycling.

20" tall is awesome Joe. I always find myself envious of other tank sizes and equipment. I don't think we are ever content in this hobby.

Any progress?

No, I ordered the weldon online. So Im waiting for that to come in soon hopefully, so I can repair the tank before finishing the foaming. Then I was gonna put some acrylic shelves in the rear, and foam those in more. Im leaning towards not using as much rock as I have available. I think the whole left side will be empy besides some shelves extending out, and I have a huge 20+ lb boulder. I think it'll be a cool SPS island.

I live in an older house by the beach.... I was thinking of putting this in the spare bedroom we have. We have hardwood floors, and we are OFF the ground. Think itd be safe? Otherwise right now its in the side room, which was a garage, but now a room. And thats not the nicest room for me to display my tank =)

I would definitely get under the house and reinforce the floor where the tank will be or use the former garage room.

We only care what the tank looks like, not the room it's in.
:)

Bah. It looks like Im gonna have to lay that tile down afterall. I really didnt wanna have to do it, but we bought some nice flooring a while back. So Joes slow 190g build turned into my fish room build lol. I may as well go all out and make it my fish room/computer room

OUUUCCCHHH, like a cheapskate I didnt bid much on ebay. I lost a Vortech pump for $202. My max was $200 lol. THAT sucks. That woulda teamed nicely with my 6080s, and I coulda got rid of my 6045s
