Johnny C's 57G Illuminata Rimless Reef

Jon as I said earlier Im awful sorry to hear about your troubles. Time for bigger and better things...

Knowing Jon this will only make his new tank even better!!! But for a second there I was wishing Id get water in my new tank first.

Jon send me a txt if you need a hand.

Thanks for the support guys, I really appriciate it. Aaron; there's a small chance I might be in ROC tomarrow- I'll give you a buzz if I am.

Off to work, hopefully I can get everything done tonight. :)

Everything is looking great Jon. Sorry to hear about the whole mess with the corals. This tank is sure to be even better than the last setup though!

Oh wow sorry to hear! How are the surviving corals doing? I guess take it as a minor but (costly) set back :( and try to move on. With your taste in corals and detail I'm sure the new set up is going to be show stopping! :)

Well, after 48 hours and LOTS of help from friends, the 57 is up and running. I think I have a hex on me because there were about 5 times when something came up that almost prolonged the setup. Luckily I got everything figured out and got it done. I've still got a ton of work to do and a few pieces of equipment to add, but the aquascape is done and hopefully the remaining corals will soon be transferred. Again a big thanks to RandyO for watching over my corals.

Please don't mind the cords and random frags everywhere. I just threw them in the tank and haven't placed them yet. The aquascaping goal was to be minimalistic with a hint of "bonsai", and I think we achieved it quite well (thanks Dan)!

I'll have more pictures up in a few days once everything settles in and gets mounted. :)

Looks excellent! I love the minimalist aqua scape. Very nice selection of rock and placement.

Switching over is a real chore, great work getting this done!

looking awesome!

can we see the entire tank with stand? :)

is that a vortech on the right side?

can you show us some wave action where the crest almost goes over the rim? :bounce1:

glad to see things are starting to look up for you. aquascaping looks great.
Thanks Dan... this hobby can be a PITA at times but the end result is always rewarding.
Very nice look Jon. Well done!
The same to you, Jon. Your stand looks awesome!

Yup, I love the minimalistic look! I feel too many people create non-functional rock walls that trap detritus and cause flow issues. Plus when I get some acro colonies it'll cause for a very dramatic display.

Why thanks! Yep, it's an MP10 and I must say for being so small this pump pushes a LOT of water. I had it in my 30G and I always loved it but figured I'd definatly need a second for the upgrade. Now I'm not so sure... gotta love Ecotech! :D I'll show more pics soon, promise!

Very nice job! Looks like there is room to grow. Nico
Thanks Nico... that's the plan!

Beauty! Update the pix when everything opens up!
Yo Cully, long time no talk! You've taught us well, hopefully I can get a frag or two from you in this system!

Hey jon is that 40 breeder drilled on one end
I assume you are referring to the holding tank that leached copper and killed my corals? No- it's probably going to go in the garbage.

Great looking scape Jon/Dan. It will look even better once it's grown in a little.
Thanks RandyO. With the help of friends and LFS's it'll be stocked and growing rather quickly! ;)

<b>Thanks again for all of the help and compliments. I'm very sorry for the lack of pictures in this build. Some jackass decided to steal my brand new camera and I've been relying on the cell for pics. I'll get better ones up by the end of the weekend, I promise!

I just thought I'd add a few pictures of other tanks on RC that inspired me in one way or another... notice a trend? ;)
