JonnyU Goes Bare Bottom

So after much debate I decided to take down my 180 and start fresh. My 180 was doing great but with a possibility of moving within the year I figured a smaller tank was in order.

Well went ahead and started building my stand.

I picked up a WM 161 which is a skimz sm161

I decided to cook the rock as I had a serious mushroom problem. I could not remove them fast enough.
A big thanks to albert for coming by lending me a container and teaching me how to acid bath live rock

After cooking them I decided to lay them out for pressure cleaning.

I really like MH t5 combo and my goal is a sps dominant tank. So after some research and some help of friends I came up with a giesmann inifiti light. (2) 250 mh with (4) 54w T5's.

That is a boss light. If I were to do it again I would have gone with that! I really like the aquascape too, my only suggestion is it looks too "even" or regularly spaced. I would move one of those formations closer to one side or the other to break up the even distribution. For example, move the tonga structure a few inches to the left. Either way looks great!

Thanks man. I really fell in love with your tank and really makes me want to do sps tank. I'm very excited about the light it looks so nice and I believe they make really great products. Once up and running I will get some par readings up. I think your right with the aqua scape. I was watching that brs videos they emailed about aqua scaping from a speaker at macna. He did mention not to center things. I'm going to tweak it a little more. Just want something blocking the overflow.
Everything looks amazing!!! Great job!! Looking forward to see it all set up!
Thank you very much

You may not need a chiller but you may wan to get some fans. That's what I did with my 30 gal with 250 halide and temp was never an issue. Without the fans a chiller would have been needed.

What did you do with all livestock? Did you already sell the 180, I might be interested if you still have it...that 75 looks nice, really like the dimensions of it, build looks killer so far

I'm looking around for a fan. Only one I see that I like is the tunze. Do you have any recommendations?

Sorry sold it.

Thanks

The tong branches will look sweet covered up in Zoas. Let me know when your ready, I can give you some digitata frags for testers.
