I also prefer the look of sand, and because I hate dealing with sand being blown around, use Carib Sea Special Grade.

As for the chiller, if I were to buy another, I'd likely pick up a Tradewinds as well, with Aqua Logic being a close contender, and for your system, a 1/2 horse is the minimum I'd consider.
Sorry Jeremy I over looked your post. I think you are right I was trying to get away with 1/2 but I do have a 3/4 I just will use.

Caribean sea special grade. Is it super white?

I thought an eco cooler was a chiller, LOL. STupid me, sorry Jose
Don't get me wrong, the Eco-Cooler is awesome if you can use it. Nice cooling power for very little wattage.

Is that type of overflow noisey? Looks 100x better than the standard type overflow.

It's aragonite, so it's your typical off white, though it doesn't have any of the pink or other random colors mixed in. As white as pretty much any other I've seen I guess.

This design has several benifits....

1. Small, doesnt take up much room. Just make sure you know how much water you plan to run through it.
2. No noise
3. Can be removed
4. Can adjust the water level in the tank.
But the main reseason why I like it and went with it was that it takes up way less room than your standard design.

I am going to look into it and Jeremy would you know the size? Or does it just com in one size?

It's a mix of 1-2 mm grains. It's big enough not to blow around, and small enough not to look like coral rubble.

Thanks Jeremy for all your help!:)

Update, update......The tank is full and salinity is at 1.022 so will be adjusting today. Iam stuck on the sand . I want the white's and I will go with 1-2 mm. After that I have the lr boulders in the holding tanks so they are ready to rock.

I hope my BK 300 ex is enough for this sys and will connect that this weekend.

Can you explain how the overflow is attached to the back?

I went with caribsea's fiji pink. Like it a lot. Super white, not too big, not too small.

Well very simple. It is attached with a bulkhead with two gaskets. One gasket on the outer side and one in between the back of the tank and pre filter.

Figi pink I will have to look into that thanks for the info.

For some reason I just can't picture it. How do you adjust the height if it's installed with the bulkheads? Seems like you'd have to buy a new overflow and drills new holes. I feel so dumb right now lol. I'm sure it's totally simple but I'm just not getting it..

Just a guess but maybe the holes on the back of the prefilter are oval shaped to allow for adjustment...

EDIT- Maybe not
