O.K. so what does everyone think? Been workin' on this for a few years and just felt a need to share :beer: Also, I was thinkin' about turning this thread into a "pseudo" blog of what I do on a daily basis and just wondering if anyone was interested?

The latest problem I'm working on is the relationship between CO2 and alkalinity usage. My tank eats alkalinity and recently the combination of Calc Reactor plus Nilsen Reactor plus B-Ionic has gotten out of control and my alk keeps falling to 5. Controlling the amount of CO2 in my basement seems to have arrested the problem for the moment so I'm working on defining that relationship with some sense of usability . . . anyways here's a few more photos, and thanks for all the kind words!

Still one of the best in RC. Good job Joe! Beautiful tank! I am still amazed how you only use 2 Tunze 6105 (but only one at a time) for flow. This is unheard of from a dense SPS tank like yours.

Thanks again for the comments DZ! It's always greatly appreciated.

I think the flow issue is one of deceptive aquascaping which was not my original intent, but which has simply evolved. If you look carefully you only count 9 major colonies on the left and 10 maybe major colonies on the right. The Tunzes have so much push that they easily cause splashing over the side but only on the side to which they are pointed so each side gets plenty of flow for half the day, but again the open structure is key. In fact the truth is if I showed a picture of the reality today it would look quite different since I have had to remove several colonies in their entirety inorder to keep the flow open. I did take some pictures, but I'm hoping to save them for a "Before and After" post for some future date. Thanks again for the kind words.

Hey, if you have to get rid of corals again in the future! :beer:

I would love to heard your approach to reef keeping and struggles you had over the years. I think this is one aspect of the hobby that no one wants to talk about; we only see tanks (and especially the ones like yours which is clearly top of the hill) in their prime but couldn't realize how much work and struggles the whole process went through. I think it would be an aspiration to all of us.
 
NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Shooot! That's the way Zoas are supposed to look! I hate the couple dozen frag plug look. I love how they couldn't possibly sneak one more polyp on that rock in front! Stunning!

And the Rics on the other side are doing the same thing. Very nice. Everything looks very happy in your tank.
