Whats ure thoughts on BB vs small sand bed, i know there a million threads on it but after reading and seeing Naka's 180 Starphire tank!!! thread im really leaning towards the bb, stop me if u can muahahaha

:D

Energy (this month's TOTM) has just a little sand in the display only. he uses remote LR elevated on eggcrate so he can blow out dirt underneath, instead of a remote DSB, makes a lot of sense to me

so i know i have left you guys hanging so like i promised and about weeks worth of work there is huge progress. For those who read this ill add some updates. 1 the water gallon (300 gal) is 45 inches around and unfortunitly my doors are only 36 so you can do that math. 2 i finally got the tank and it was gorgous but they brought it on a 6ft penske truck with one driver. noe let me ask you how the heck do you get a 10ft by 4ft by 2 ft tank off a 6ft truck. Well you sit back and think a little bit. What we did was slide it to it teedered(spl) on the lift gate then by a hair it was able to spin and go on the lift gate. Lowered it on the life gate to the ground but not before i fell off the gate onto my fave from about 5 ft up. My new nickname is now penske :-(. We put the tank on dollys and kept it in the garage for about a week until construction started. There was the 2nd problem how to you get a 10ft tank inside? So after many failed atemps with moving companies and nobody wanting to life and carry a 600lbs tank inside, i went back to the drawing board. Unfortunetly i dont have pics but using physics and a little might myslef and my moms Bf constructed a 16ft ramp into the basement took the tank outside used Levers to lift it (2 8ft 2x4 nailed) and by some luck of god it didnt fall over. We had dollys and was able to get it on its side and ramp it into the basement and into the tank room( i have pics of that at least). So after about a week of work in the room we are at the tape and spackle part.

The tank is going to be a in wall tank which will have a bar infront of it so you can eat and drink at it. The room is split into two parts there is the tv/game room part and then the bar Tank room part. There is surround sound and i went with a 50 inch flat screen plasma on wall and a 26 inch Lcd for behind the bar. It will have 2 seperate zones or if you want 1 so u can play music and chill or what ever. OKOK HERE ARE THE PIC :-)

I still have issues though and we will talk about them later

This i the basement as it once was, empty

Framing as well as Drylock FLoor even though my basement is perfect and i mean perfect i put it down just for support and it stinks to walk around on concrete. The room is getting Half Carpet and Half wood flooring

So this is the stand build out of LVL and sits 56inches up. The tank is eye level standing and when you sit you will look directly in the center of the tank. The other side of the wall is the Fish room( i think thats where they normally are :-P)

So how do three guys one who works the night shift life a 600lbs tank into place. Like this

100_1410.jpg

About the worst idea you can have but it had to get done. Needless to say it was a slow and scary process i thought the while time it was gonna fall on me as i was the one useing the jacks and sliding the the 2x4 under 1 at a time

100_1411.jpg

We got the tank to the level we wanted and with one heave hoe with placed it down and used its own weight to life it up onto the stand and slide it into place

Thast it for now until next week im getting a Digital Rebel canon. Its on its way so you wll have all the pics you need. The fish room is done as well and we sheetrocked with the same sheetrock that you would use in a bathroom so it dosent absorb moisture.

Hope you like it so far.

See Dancin Dizzle its all yours

Very nice. I was wondering it seems like there will be no access to the front of the tank from the room. Also I would of waterproofed the framing around the tank. Everything else looks great best of luck with it

We havnt cut the sheet rock until the tape and spackle is done this way it cant get scratched or dripped on or painted over :-) its there Im going to paint the fish room with a extior paint this way it is water resistant

soon i wanna take my time and do it right im really worried about the humity of the room and tank. I know with a tank this size evaporation could melt the walls and sheetrock and cause $$$$ in house damage. I could be over reacting but at one point there will be 4 150 mh on with 22 t-5 ons now thats only for a few hours maybe even 1 because i want to create a sunrise effect and really dont want all those lights on at once. Becuase i cant afford that electric bill. I wanna make sure the plumbing is right aas well. I like taking my time which is golden in this hobby after 6 yrs with a couple of times i learned to aprreicate what you have and take your time to the next step because if you rush and or change to many things at once you can go from 2 steps forward to 13 steps back. But if you just took that little extra time you might wind up with a TOTM. (thats my goal)

Kinda long winded
