How about a FRAG SWAP?

If everyone thinks it would be a good idea to hold one of our own...WTMRAC style...let me know.

I enjoyed myself at the Statewide one in Nashville so much that I would like to put one on in Memphis or Jackson.

What do you guys think?

im in, ill volunteer to help set up as well. im sure i want have any sellable frags by then but im always in the market to buy :)

I'll be there:). Chattanooga is having theirs sometime around July or August, I heard, but that's at the other end of the state. I can make both;).

Excellent...Barrett and I are working on something right now that may turn out to be a great idea. Then again...it may fizzle out. (I doubt it, though)

i don't know about frags and barbeque's but i can sure bring some good fisheyes and chicken feet. ramiro.

I don't think it'll fizzle out. I was concerned about how many would show up to the Nashville swap and it exceeded my expectations, anyway. I think the state is ready for some real action, statewide. This is the beginnings of a good thing for the state:). Let me know if you want some of the info I received from people on things that should have been different on the Nashville swap. Got a nice list of things to improve...

If it were held in Memphis it may draw from Arkansas and Mississippi and we may see folks that have not been to the Nashville or Chattanooga. this would maybe allow for some new items moving into the area.

Gary made a good point last time I spoke with him in Nashville; at this point in the frag swapping trade certain species seem to be prevelant in some regions while rare in others. I'd love to see some new blood.

And let's not forget about the "other" border state- Missouri, even though I think I'm the only reefer in this god frosaken area!!

I always love it when I write a check at Kermit's and one of the new guys asks- "You drove all the way here from Missouri ?!"

And my reply is- "Yeah I even made the whole 1hr.15min. trip without stopping  "

Anyhow yes I would attend the frag swap in Memphis, I may even join the club but you Tennesseeans are a fanatical bunch so I'm kinda leary about joining.-(Richard are any rituals involved or do you just pay your dues?)

There are a few hazing rituals, but most people seem to enjoy them. Barrett enjoyed his a little too much.

Clint!

Good to hear you are still in the hobby. I bought your VHO lights some time (and a lot of $$$) ago. It's still going strong. What kind of set up are you running?

Luckyfish,
ok now I remember-the nice little Mercedes convertible....anyhow right now I'm running my daughter's 7g nano-(36w pc over a 9 inch deep tank) But Richard is going to hook me up with a nice 90g as soon as he get his new monster running.

Yeah those were the good ole days-lots of money and no where to bury it so we threw it away on a car....lol ( didn't just dave have a pretty nice Audi a one time?)

In fact I just sold the Prelude last week-I'm taking over the wife's BMW 323i and she's getting an X5.

I've been through several tank setup since giving up on the import tuner scene, 29g, 72g bf, 125g, and now I have the 7g and a 4 month old daughter.

But when I get the need for speed I'll always have the CBR 600rr:rollface:

Well, details are currently being worked out, but here is the deal:

The WTMRAC Frag Swap to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is going to be in June...10th or 24th.
All proceeds from the swap will go to St. Jude in the name of WTMRAC.

Money from this will go towards renovating the 2 aquariums located inside St. Jude. Presently there are 2 approximately 210 gallon salt water fish tanks. We will be converting them to mixed reefs. One will definitely be a themed tank based around a recent popular children's animated feature with specimens like in the movie. Yes, that means Dory, Nemo, Scar (maybe), and all the gang. We will need volunteers for this project on a long term basis. We will talk more about this at the meeting in April, but I wanted everyone to start thinking about this. Most of the volunteer work will be needed at the beginning of this project in setting up the tanks, cleaning them, etc.
