June meeting

Is there a June meeting scheduled this year? What is the topic?

At the last meeting we were told that the June meeting would be at the regular time/date (June 16th 7:30pm is the 3rd Friday) and would be a DIY workshop of sorts. We would be getting the auto top off units from the group buy. Some explanation would be given about how to set them up, and we were going to fabricate a bracket to hold the float switches.

Maybe something has changed. I see the VP posted in another thread here after you started this one so maybe the board is still undecided???

Peter is working on some ideas for the June meeting. As soon as it is finalized I'll let you know. One idea he had was for a live sand/macroalgae/refugium invert swap. Would there be any interest in this?

What about contacting Joe and Sally Bauer, founders of C-SEA, for a talk about the club's early history, and/or something about the hsitory and development of diving? After Joe retired as a surgeon at SouthWest, I know he was very involved in establishing a museum of diving in Florida near where they retired to.

Carole, I am totally into the sand/macro/invert swap idea.

If people are going to jump into a swap like this they need understand the risk involved. I'd love to add some diversity, but I don't think the risk is worthwhile for me.

Is the group buy/ato setup/discussion we talked about not going to happen? I know Kevin mentioned brining a tank/pump for demo. Jeff has acyrlic ready for brackets.

scott--I think both things can happen. Neither would take up a whole meeting, and a swap would possibly be interesting to those not involved in the group buy.

I'm interested. Perhaps one of our club in-house experts could give a little talk on fuge/refugiums for us beginners.

I will be attending my first meeting in June and I am looking forward to meeting all of you. I met some at the swap. I would be game for the refugium topic since I cant get mine to do anything. If there is a DIY topic please put me in for what ever it is and let me know what I owe. One question though. Where in the zoo is the meeting?? Thanks Ben
