June MTRC Meeting

We're possibly planning a camping/hiking weekend then, but we can probably do 6:30 on a Sunday (just hit up the meeting on the way back through). We'll most likely make it, but put us down as tentative.

okay i missed the last one and want to make this one. Problem is i am not a member but want to join can i just do it there i don't really want to do the pay pal thing, sorry. Since it is right here i would rather just give my money to someone in person. Let me know if this is possible. Thanks

Then just come and join that evening, I would suggest you go to our web site (http://mtrc.org/) and print out the club application and bring that & your dues to the meeting. But I will bring some forms with me just in case. Look forward to seeing you there...

Norman

I will be there. I have my form all filled out and will have my dues at that time. woohooo I cant wait!!

Meeting update (confirmed).

For MTRC members, we'll get:
  • The Aquatic Critter is providing Pizza and soft drinks!
  • Everything in the store will be 25% off (except sale items and aquariums)!
  • Marineland is providing a 160 gal pail of IO salt mix, misc test kits and a seaclone skimmer for the raffle (thanks AC and Marineland)!
  • They will provide a coral or two to frag (not sure what type yet)!
We tried to get a speaker for the meeting, but that didn't pan out. I'll be making some announcements and will have a time for questions and answers, so bring your reef related questions and well do our best to help you out with the hobby. Should be a great time :D

Sounds awesome, Jack!

HUGE thanks to AC and crew. The AC meeting last year was my first MTRC meeting. :)

Well it looks like I may be coming after all. :)

Doesn't look like we're going to East TN that weekend (really wanted to make the swap, but things are tight).

Brandon

Thanks Jack, and a special thanks to AC and Marineland, awesome stuff going on for that meeting and WOW....25% off!! Very Cool Don't miss this meeting...

Norman

This is really cool. And 25% off have been saving up my cash!! I was told at the AC that Chris is double stocking all of his frags for the meeting. May just have my 125 up and running... running out of room in my 55g. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

i am going to be there and i will have a form and my dues ready. Plus some more money for the freaking awesome deals. Thanks to all the people that are contributing to this. Thats awesome.

25% off? Stocking up of frags? Do you allow east TN people to come? I'm in Gatlinburg that morning, but might be able to sneak away for the meeting (provided I don't have to do the Father's day thing with my husband that evening- this might be a problem....). I've really wanted to make one of your meetings held on a Sat with special deals, etc..... Hmmmm.....

Is it going to be 25% off everything (fish included) or just certain things? I'm guessing that the frags will be included since they were specifically mentioned. I'm going to have the CRC meeting at my house in late summer or early fall. Need to have it nice looking by then, huh? If I bought any fish, would they do ok for a 2 hour car ride back to Chattanooga? I know when they are shipped from overseas, don't they pump oxygen into the bags? (sorry for the dumb questions). I guess people ship everywhere, so I guess 2 hours isn't bad so long as the temp is ok....

Just above is what Jack wrote. :) Those are the details. Do keep in mind that the discount has been specified to MTRC members. (I can't remember if you joined or not, Susan :) ).

Brandon

Oh, and if you get some fish there, they should be fine for a 2 hour ride back. You would want to mention this to them when they bag them, tho, so they can put plenty of air in the bag. :)

Brandon

And I can ask all sorts of stupid questions about refugiums there? Like will my calerpa go sexual and what the heck does that mean? Do I need a cuke in my refugium and should I have snails in there? I should start making a list....

Membership if fairly inexpensive, right? I would be happy to join, just wouldn't make any of the middle of the week meetings. I'll need an address to Aquatic Critter if it's not in the first post (I'll go look). They have lots of nice fish and corals, right?
Susan

You can ask those questions on here or there. :)

You can find the membership info here.

We usually don't have any meetings during the week, FWIW. :)

Info for the AC can be found here.

Brandon

Susan the two hours wont be a problem if you tell them all you do is tell them what you want and they will mark it sold and then bag it when you leave. You do want to bring a cooler to keep them in. If you forget though I am sure that he has a few boxes laying around. They are real helpful and put on a good meeting well worth the trip.
