June power bill

Mine droped from 160 to 110 for June....can't complain. I am running two Large systems with halides and the fuge is lit in the evenings...so lights 24/7. i also have 3 kids that have a phobic fear of lightswitches in the off position, and they believe if they leave the door open when they go outside it will make it cooler out there!

our cost went from 215 to 385!! im thinking becuse of the halides, and because my bros are down here for the summer.

My powerbill was $147 which is the highest I've ever had it here in my 2 bedroom apartment for the summer, and my water bill is always the same at $43. Last year my powerbill didn't even go over $120 this time of year... But the rates did go up I believe here in tampa for FPL.

Mine was $350 for a 1150 sq ft house. It usually runs me around $200 this time of year. The very next day I had my AC checked. It is too small of a unit and is running 24/7 to keep it at 79 degrees. It was not doing this last year before I installed all of my PC lighting. So...now I have to either pay high electric bills or get a new A/C...OUCH!! ($3500)

Check your pumps. Theyre usually the issue, not the lights.

1 100w pump puts a lot more heat in your water (that needs to be chilled) and uses almost as much electricity as a 400w halide.(24h vs 7 h running)

Let's see. 100W times 24 hours equals 2400watts used.

400W times 7 hours equals 2800 watts used.

Lights use more but not by much. Your charged by the kilowatt/hr used. so that 2.4 KW or 2.8 KW. Not much difference.

Alos both put off heat that can affect water temp depending on the pump.

My bill actually went down to around $350. I did get rid of one of my 400W Mh lights. I just recently moved everything from my 400G tank into a 200G holding tank while I move the 400 so my bill should be going down even more. However it's only temporarily until I get the 400 back up and running. ;)

$65 for 3 college students central air only thing thats gas in the house is the furnace. We have 4 tv's 6 computers i have a 29 gallon tank with 250watts mh and 130 watts pc and all the extras

Thats for Northern WV

I have the option of wiring my 400 watt MH from 110 volts to 220 volts which almost cut the amps in half. After this month bill it might be worth doing.
I've also installed timer on the skimmers, and reduce the lighting schedule by two hours each day.
I had a window unit cooling the pump room, running 24/7. which worked fine, but going back to letting the central air unit do all the work.
Now let see what July will be like.

Thor, I need to know your secret... When was you house built? I live down the road off of Lk. Pickett and my bill was $320.00.

However, my A/C is also under powered by about 1/2 ton and I think my water heater is about 12 years old. I'm going to replace the water heater this weekend and see what happens... After that, I move to the A/C. If that doesn't work, then my wife will probably talk about getting rid of the tank... But I won't let her!!!! :)
