Junior's Reef

thanks, Henry

thanks, Henry

needless to say, I've seen better times!
Went to the zoo last weekend and left saying, man its a shame that they don't offer to pay Gary to run their tank.

Love the pics Gary. Fantastic job.
thanks and I welcome offers for aquarium maintenance jobs. PM me.

Seems like the copperband you bought is doing great! I'll have to give it a try one more time and see if I can quarantine them better and get them eating a bunch in the quarantine tank somehow.

I had a Copperband that was doing just great in quarantine. He ate Mysis like it was going out of style and I fed him multiple times a day. Man, I just loved that fish, the way he would come up to the glass waiting for his feeding. Immediately after he was moved to the DT he quit eating. He would follow the Mysis around but not eat it and he starved. I won't try again.

I've simplified my feeding nowadays

I've simplified my feeding nowadays

I toss a chunk of frozen Pro Salt (brand) "Marine Supreme" into the aquarium each evening. The CBB feeds heavily on that stuff as do all of my critters.
The CBB also grazes pods off the reef all day long.

Looking good Gary!

Is it me or is Junior begining to grow the "hump" on his head that mature male Emporer Angels get?

Nick

his forehead area has definitely beefed up lately...

he looks kinda skinny in that second pic but he's not.

Incidentally, corals in this aquarium are depleting alkalinity at an unbelievable rate right now.

Man every time I see your tank it looks noticeably different as in coral growth. Wow!! And all the FAT fish what the hell.

note the pink Pocillipora in the picture below that grew from a planulae larvae settlement. This is very unusual IME. When you read about Pocillipora larvae settling in an aquarium it's usually not a pink type. As a matter of fact, I've never heard of a pink Pocillipora doing this in an aquarium prior to mine but I'm sure somebody else's must have....

One of ABC Reefs coral tanks has spontaneous growth pocci, but it is the green morphology. I thought I noted pink in TRS's 180 tank on the right when you walk in, but I haven't been there in 3-4years and that might have been green too

Either way, I don't think anyone will argue Gary's tank is the shiznit! Dying to get out there to see it!

It looks like there should be all kinds of coral wars going on in there. Also in the first picture it gives the appearance of corals on top of corals.

Awesome tank. Well done. I apologize if this has been asked already as I may have missed a page or two in the thread, but does Junior ever or has he ever bothered your corals or anemone? Also, did you get him as a juvenile?

The pride and joy of my tank is my emperor. I've had him about a year and a half and he is currently going through the change to his adult coloration. I had to get rid of all my lps/clam since he developed a taste for them about 3-4 months after being in the tank with no problems.

Edit: Just read through your build thread and basically answered my questions.
