Now what? Lol, i have never taken pictures but looking at all these on here has inspired me to start learning. Can someone point me in the direction on what settings to start with to try and get some decent shots with my new camera and lense? What is RAW? How do i shoot in it, im a newbie to say the very least.

Thanks
Dennis

The only purpose of shooting RAW entails editing the images on your computer afterward. Canon includes a fairly nice RAW editor, free with their cameras, called Digital Photo Professional.

One more piece of the puzzle which will really help you is a tripod. Macro photography deals with depth of field, and unless you want 1mm of your coal in focus and the rest blurry, you may not be able to touch the camera while the photo is being taken.
