Just curious- logistics behind a 15,000 gallon tank

So- I have seen various articles and descriptions of huge- like 5,000 gallon + tanks in people's homes. They are built in like commercial aquariums and are obviously cool.

Does anyone here have experience with tanks this large? I'm just posting to satisfy my curiosity. What are the logistics behind having a tank this size in your home?

Other than enormously larger costs to set up and run, large systems run just like other tanks only on a much bigger scale with commercial grade equipment. Beefed up source water lines, sewer drains, commercial skimmers, etc. would all be required.

Although I don't have a tank that big, several things come to mind that may not apply in the smaller tank world.

Number one, a tank like that would have to be completely sealed off from the main structure and HVAC system to avoid massive humidity damage and mold.

Second consideration, (which to most people that can afford them, isn't as big a deal) is impact on resale of the house. Although pretty to look at, they don't help property values and aren't easily removed. Most cost the same or more to remove as to install.

Third, more work would have to be done structurally to ensure that the foundation and walls could sufficiently hold up to the load. Drainage in the event of accidents, etc. would also need to be considered.
