I've had my haddoni for about 3 years now and I've always fed him LFS bought frozen foods which I rotate when I run out of a particular one - Rod's, Reef Frenzy, and PE Mysis. Well, I was just reading a thread that OrionN posted where he fed his haddoni some salmon. Just by coincidence, I had stopped by the farmer's market earlier today and bought a few flanks of salmon. I figured...well if I would eat it, anemone should eat it too right?
Anyway, I sliced off a small cube and offered it to my haddoni and the response absolutely shocked me. He's always been super sticky and eats well, but has always eaten pretty slow (maybe 7-10 seconds from edge to mouth). I usually do a mini tug of war with my tongs to simulate live food which entices him to eat it quicker. When I offered the salmon, he literally ripped the salmon out of my tongs as soon as it was near him (did not know he was that strong!) and within 1 second it was in his mouth. In the 3 years that I've had him, I've never seen a feeding response this strong before.
Do you think they can sense that it's fresher? Or does my haddoni just really love salmon...? :hmm3: I'm actually considering just ditching the frozen LFS foods from now on and feeding him the seafood that I eat, lol. Is there such thing has an imbalanced diet for an anemone?
