I just got back from a collection trip to Hawaii, I have to give much thanks to the collectors over there for taking me again. the water was bumpy, and we couldn't dive the south which is where the flame wrasses are (which are one of the reasons I went) but still had a great time and collected several interesting fish. One of the best catches didn't do well in our buckets, in all the guys caught 9 hawaiian longfin anthias, all they took were females and still 6 didn't make it more then a few hours in our holding tanks

Here is a female on the boat

There were males, but they do even worse then young so none were collected

Another great fish that was caught were the bandit angels-they collected 4, I didn't see any except for big adults and on a dive that I didn't make they got 3 really nice crosshatch triggers, 2 males and a female.

And the trio of crosshatches

I wasn't there but the week before they caught a really nice small dragon moray, this is one that was for sale in a shop that we delivered to

I collected several nice fish, a few fishers angels, more female potters leopard wrasse )to add to my herum) and some tangs and other wrasses, but mostly I just dove and took very poor quality photos, some of which are below...

I only dove 2 days, but I took my niece with me and we snorkeled and looked in the tide pools between surfing and going out to eat, overall, it was too short but a nice trip.

I wasn't there when they caught the dragon moray (if you read the post that wasn't even the one the guys caught, but it made a good photo so I posted it) so I have no info on its collection, but the crosshatches were collected around 130 ft.

Once again Philter4 you are living the life. What island did you go to? Also can we see a full tank shot with the harem?

I was on Oahu, not only do I have family that lives on Oahu, but that is where the divers I know are.

I will try to get a full tank shot, but as of now I don't have one, if I get a good one I'll post, the tank has a pr of potters, a female fishers, a tang, a bicolor anthias, and the leopard wrasses, along with all of the inverts.

OMG .. where do I get a Female Potters wrasse to go with my male? It took years just to find a male.. I don't think I have even heard of a female being for sale before. I thought the Male was nice looking, that female puts mine to shame. Awesome fish you collected! Just out of curiosity, how does one go about collecting the fish you did? Nets?

CubeNoob, female should be easier to find then males, they are found in herums with a male and several females so there are more females then males. Any LFS that gets HI fish should have no trouble when they are on the list getting females.
