Just got back from diving in Panama City

I just got back in town yesterday from diving panama city florida and wow was I surprised how many nice fish there were. We dove St. Andrew State park off of the jetties across from shell island. We saw a queen angel 2 feet long, a 2-3 foot spotted grouper, a couple of butterfly fish (not sure what type), a bubble tip anemone with two sexy shrimp hosting it. Also saw a rock with about 40 lawnmower blennies in holes all over it. Then there were countless damsels, dwarf angels, wrasses, crabs, rays. All in all it was a really good dive and I was really surprised that good of a dive was only 8 hrs away.

I myself dove a wreck and a sunken bridge off of Panama City a few years back and was suprised at how nice of a dive it was as well. Glad you had fun:)

i've never dove before and doubt i ever will due to not liking water like that....go figure i love this hobby lol anyways glad ya saw all that....i can say i love panama city above water level :D lol

Just curious, was anemone for certain a BTA? Also, did you happen to see any lionfish? I haven't had a chance to dive Panama yet, but would love to someday. Maybe we should do a MTRC trip. I know a few of us are divers.

Glad you enjoyed your diving, tkimmons! What company did you dive with?

I have also gone diving in Panama City... but our dive kind of sucked. The first one was awesome. Big jelly fish, awesome wreck (it was a hovercraft), cool angel fish, etc. The second dive was horrible. 3ft of vis and it was the ruins of a former Navy research facility. AKA, a bunch of pylons. I did see a really bright orange nudibranch, but that was it! My professors were ****ed, too... And ask Chris, a ****ed off Mike and Bev is not a good situation. ;)

A dive trip would be great, Donny. Martha's Quarry is cheap... I had wanted to try to organize one for this summer but I got way too busy with work. Maybe this coming spring?

I actually went with the dive team here at hendersonville fire. A couple of members took me down there to see how comfortable I am in the water. Which is funny because diving down there is NOTHING like doing a body recovery here in black water like old hickory lake. I actually might get on the dive team here sometime soon, we had a spot open up and Im next on the list. So I guess Ill find out shortly.

As for the bubble tip anemone Im not 100 percent, but it was an anemone with bubble shaped tips sooo... ?

Sounds good. It maybe was a Condylactis? They look pretty similar. I haven't heard of BTA's being invasive yet. But it wouldn't surprise me actually. Thanks!
