Ive got a little device i purchased when I was re-wiring my lights.. checks to see if there is voltage coming through.. intended to stick into outlet holes to make sure your outlead isnt live.. but you can use it on loose wires too.. im not sure if it would work by putting both into the water, dont really have a way to test..
maybe someone else knows what im talking about and if its a pipe dream..
