UPS finally delivered my 2 MP40's last night. Cant' wait to hook these up to my APEX and see what they can do.

In a 55g your gonna be rocking and rolling!

Yeah, I know. lol

I would have gone with the 10's but I do plan on upgrading within the next year or so and I don't think the 10's would be strong enough for the thicker glass.

I'm just cleaning the house now before my wife gets home so that there's nothing to do later on and I can set these things up without her nagging me to do something.

Who am I kidding, she'll still find something.:headwally:

Wow, these things are great. I turned off my other powerheads and plugged one MP40 in. It was instantly getting a bunch of crud from my substrate and rocks and getting it in the water column. Good stuff. I'm really interested to see what my skimmer looks like tomorrow.

Right now I have the 2 MP40's in master/slave in antisync lagoon on the lowest setting. so far, so good.

Any higher setting, you'll probably have a sand storm. You'll see better polyp extension as well now.
I get great movement on my 72 with 1 mp40, but 2 on a 55 must be insane movement.

Can the Apex control the mp40 anymore than on/off?

I haven't played with it yet but you can make the vortechs do anything with the apex. Change modes throughout the day, change intensities, slow the flow for feeding, etc. You do have to purchase a separate wireless module for the apex though.

As long as you keep them a little higher up, you should be able to turn them up fairly high. I have one on 100% in a 40g and the sand stays where it is . . . . . . mostly.

It's not so much the sand I need to worry about as it is my coral. I've got a large toadstool high up in the middle if the tank. I'm using it as a centerpiece kind of thing. Poor guys getting blasted.

I've got a stomach virus going on now so I won't be able play with them today.

The only limitation with Apex is the number of profiles you can create.I think the wxm module gives you 16 profiles. If your planning of mixing intensities, modes they get used up.
I adding the vdm for my leds(for a total 32 profiles)only have two left.
